Explore the beautiful walled village of Cadillac and pretty Saint-Macaire, before your unique Signature Experience. The ship then cruises along the Gironde Estuary past the historic vineyards of Aquitaine to Pauillac in the famous Medoc wine region. During your time here, enjoy an exclusive visit to a family-owned cooperage and savour a fine wine tasting followed by a private dinner at the regal Château de Ferrand, with history dating back to the 17th century.

See the sights of Blaye, explore the impressive Chateau de Cognac on a guided tour and perhaps join a guided tour of Bergerac with its beautifully restored Old Town. An overnight stop in Bordeaux gives ample time to see the iconic sights, including Pont de Pierre and Miroir d'eau.

2019 Grand Bordeaux Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Bordeaux (France)

Fly from the UK to Bordeaux and embark your ship docked on the Garonne River for a Welcome Reception. (D)

Day 2 - Cadillac

Pass towering limestone cliffs as you cruise along the Garonne to the walled village of Cadillac. Enjoy a guided tour before heading to the village of Saint-Macaire. Alternatively, stay onboard the ship for cheese tasting. There is also the option to visit Chateau de la Brede for a tour. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Pauillac

Your ship cruises the Gironde Estuary to Pauillac. Enjoy a visit to a family-owned cooperage where you'll learn how wooden wine barrels are made and the secrets of this time-honoured craft, as well as sampling some red and white wine. There is also a visit to Château Giscours, a remarkable 19th-century Grand Cru Classé estate, for a tour and wine tasting. Gala Welcome Dinner this evening. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Blaye - Bourg

Walk around the 17th-century citadel of Blaye which overlooks the Gironde. This afternoon, travel to Bourg where you can enjoy a walking tour or perhaps cycle along the river and past beautiful Chateaux from Blaye to Bourg. Alternatively, perhaps head to Cognac for a tour, visiting Chateau de Cognac, a French cognac house. Return to the ship docked in Bourg. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Libourne

Today choose to visit the underground Monolithic Church then a local winery, or walk through the picturesque vineyards to a nearby village, enjoying wine tasting on the way. Enjoy an evening visit to the regal Chateau de Ferrand for a fine wine tasting followed by a private dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Libourne

See the sights of Bergerac's restored Old Town on a guided tour or perhaps take the tour of Libourne during which you'll head to a caviar estate for a tour followed by a caviar tasting. Captain's Farewell Dinner on board this evening as you cruise back towards Bordeaux. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Bordeaux

Enjoy a tour of the highlights of the elegant city of Bordeaux, including the Pont de Pierre, tower of Pey-Berland and spectacular Miroir d'eau which reflects the splendid Palais de la Bourse. There is also the option to play a round of golf or enjoy a guided bike ride. The ships docks overnight in Bordeaux, giving plenty of time to explore the city at leisure by night. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Bordeaux - UK

After breakfast, disembark and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)

Day 2 - Bordeaux - Libourne - Saint Emilion

Scenic cruising this morning, before arriving in Saint-Emilion. Head to the underground Monolithic Church before spending time at leisure. Alternatively, stroll through some picturesque vineyards stopping for a wine tasting along the way. This evening, there is a Signature Experience. Enjoy a fine wine tasting followed by a private dinner at Chateau de Ferrand, dating back to the 17th century. The current owners, the Bich family, founded the famous Bic company. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Libourne - Blaye

Enjoy a guided tour of Libourne with a stop at a caviar estate to see how this rare delicacy is farmed. The experience culminates with a caviar tasting. Alternatively, take a stroll around the local market and sample fresh produce. Later, the ship sails to Blaye.

Day 4 - Blaye - Bourg

Take a walk around the impressive 17th-century citadel in Blaye as well as its underground passages. The citadel was built by order of Louis XIV to prevent enemies from sailing to Bordeaux. Later, the ship sails to Bourg at the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. Here, join a walking tour of the town centre, or perhaps opt for a cycle past chateaux on the banks of the Gironde Estuary along the Captain's Road to the Cotes de Bourg wine region. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Bourg - Pauillac

Admire the stunning views as you cruise along the Gironde Estuary. Disembark in Pauillac and travel through the Medoc wine region, home to some of the world's most prestigious wines. Your Signature Experience is a visit to a local cooperage to see how wooden wine barrels are produced. Later, visit Chateau Giscours, a remarkable 19th-century Grand Cru Classe estate in the Margaux region. Here, enjoy a tour and wine tasting. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Pauillac - Cadillac

Your ship arrives in the walled village of Cadillac and perhaps enjoy a guided tour of the town before a visit to Chateau de Cazeneuve, once home of the Kings of Navarre. Alternatively, visit Chateau de la Brede, once the home of philosopher Montesquieu, for a guided tour, or stay on board for a cheese tasting. Captain's Farewell Dinner this evening. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Bordeaux

Enjoy a city tour and indulge in a charcuterie and cheese tasting, play a round of golf, or hop in an open-roofed Citroen 2CV vintage car for a guided tour. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Bordeaux - UK

Disembark and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
