About AmaWaterways
On board AmaWaterways ships
AmaWaterways were the first to introduce twin balcony cabins. Most cabins on the latest ships feature both a French balcony and an outside balcony for guests to enjoy the riverside views. With up to just 164 guests on board, there is the luxury of space in the public areas including the lounges and restaurants.
Other facilities on board include sun deck, library, fitness centre, massage and beauty salon and even a heated swimming pool on board most of the newer ships.
World Class Recognition
AmaWaterways in the only river cruise line invited to join the Chaine des Rotisseurs, a prestigious gastronomic society founded in 1248. Membership is by invitation to those with world class culinary skills. The chefs onboard AmaWaterways ships are dedicated to share their expertise in fine food and wine to provide outstanding onboard dining.
Enjoy award-winning dining, with open seating for dinner and complimentary fine wines, beers and soft drinks with lunch and dinner. Buffet breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea are enticing informal meals.
The newer ships offer a choice of dining options, including alfresco terrace dining and an intimate chef's table with tasting menu. Tapas can also be ordered between meals in the main lounge.
Superb range of included excursions
Included excursions in small groups and expert local guides provide an excellent introduction to the culture and heritage of the region.
Exclusive to AmaWaterways is a choice of excursion groups including 'Gentle Walkers', 'Active Walkers' and 'Late Starter' groups to suit all guests. Every tour is led by a local English-speaking guide. There are also some more active ways to discover the destinations visited with guided bike tours and guided hikes which take guests off the beaten track.
AmaWaterways also offer new, included 'Limited Edition Tours' such as indulging in Belgian waffles in Antwerp, beer tasting at an old brewery in Nuremberg or discovering hidden spots in Vienna.
Relaxing on board
Evening entertainment focuses on local performers, from Bavarian music and dance to classical quartets help you enjoy the riverside views after dinner.
Complimentary W-Fi, movies and music in your stateroom add to your relaxation and enjoyment on board.
Themed cruises
Selected sailings are designated Wine Cruises. Guests have the opportunity to join tours with wine-related experiences such as learning about how wine is made and taking part in wine tastings in the regions visited. Each cruise is hosted by a wine expert and the chefs will pair the fine local wines with the award-winning dishes. Wine cruises are available along the Danube, Rhine, Bordeaux, Seine, Rhone and Douro with a choice of dates.
AmaWaterways have created a partnership with LGT Solutions to offer exclusive European Golf cruises. This is available on selected Rhine and Danube cruises and includes ten of the top golf courses in Europe. The packages include transfers to the course, practice balls for warm-up, pull trolley, lunch in the clubhouse and club cleaning. Golf clubs can be hired if required. There are no minimum numbers required and special packages including a hotel stay in Prague are available - please contact us for details.

AmaWaterways ships are independently rated the best on Europe’s legendary rivers, and their other superb river cruise ships sail the Mekong in Vietnam and Cambodia, the Irrawaddy in Burma (Myanmar), and the Chobe River in Africa. The facilities on board AmaWaterways ships in Europe are unrivalled in the market, with more public space per guest than most other ships.
European ships
AmaMagna, new 2019: Twice the width of a traditional river ship, revolutionary new river ship AmaMagna will sail the Danube carrying just 194 guests. As well as large luxurious cabins, multiple dining options including an al-fresco restaurant and enhanced evening activities, AmaMagna features an open-water sports platform, a first for river cruising, with Zodiacs, canoes and recreational equipment.
The company's ships have a choice of 3 outdoor decks, the Sun Deck with lounge chairs, shaded area and heated pool or whirlpool, a Lower Sun Deck and a cosy teak Front Deck available at all times.
The Main Lounge has comfortable seating, floor-to-ceiling windows and an always open bar. The front Observation Lounge is ideal for taking in the approaching sights. These combine in the evening to form an area for entertainment and music performances, as well as lectures.
The peaceful Library offers a wide selection of books, whilst a boutique Shop sells souvenirs and other items you need for your journey.
The ships have two decks of cabins with Twin balconies - an outside sit-on balcony and a separate French balcony - at 210 or 235 square feet. French balcony cabins are available, with the Suites up to 350 square feet. The ships offer a choice of dining venues. There is a Fitness Centre and sauna and massage, hair and beauty salon.

River Douro ships
AmaDouro, new 2019: Carrying just 102 passengers, AmaDouro offers a stylish main lounge, fitness room and swimming pool on the sun deck. Most of the spacious and elegant cabins have their own balconies, and all cabins feature internet access, complimentary Wi-Fi and Entertainment-on-Demand.
AmaVida, new 2013: This 108-passenger ship is designed for exploring Portugal's river Douro, and features fine dining with al fresco dining options and a swimming pool on the sun deck. Two of the three decks feature sit-on outside balcony cabins, and all have large flat-screen TV with internet access and complimentary wi-fi.
River Mekong ship
AmaDara, new 2015: This stylish boutique ship carries 124 passengers and features authentic French colonial decor. Every luxurious cabin features an Outside Balcony and a French Balcony, and public areas include the Mekong Restaurant, the air-conditioned Saigon Lounge with large panoramic windows and the Sun Deck with its shaded bar and pool.
Africa ship
Zambezi Queen, refurbished in 2019: Specifically designed for safari river cruising on the Chobe River, this ship features spacious balcony cabins.
Egypt Ships
AmaDahlia, new 2021: This is an inviting 72-passenger ship offering 36 staterooms, including 16 magnificent suites with a wealth of amenities that will surprise and delight you, including a heated sun-deck swimming pool and bar, The Chef's Al Fresco Restaurant, hair and nail salon and two massage rooms. New for 2024, the 82-passenger AmaLilia will be a true treasure of the Nile.
Latin America ships
New for 2024, both AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia will debut on Colombia's Magdalena River. Holding up to 64-passengers, each ship has a rejuvenating heated pool on the Sun Deck, a spacious fitness room, a Main Restaurant serving exquisite, regionally inspired Latin American cuisine and Western favourites, as well as an intimate al fresco specialty dining experience.
AmaWaterways - World Class Dining
Menus in Europe are overseen by an Exective Chef, Primus Perchtold, who is the winner of three gold medals at the European Championship of Culinary Art. The AmaWaterways ships are noted for fine food and attentive service. Expert chefs create a range of gourmet masterpieces that feature exquisite locally inspired cuisine as well as traditional international offerings.
On board daily dining
At the breakfast buffet choose from fresh pastries, fruit, salmon, cereals, and traditional items or opt for a made-to-order choice from the menu. Complimentary sparkling wine and fruit juices are available. Options for early and late risers are also available in the Main Lounge.
Call at the Main Lounge for a light lunch or head to the main restaurnat for full menu service and complimentary unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks in Europe.
Dinner is a sumptuous multi-course event, with soft drinks and beer freely available, and unlimited wines chosen to accompany delicious dishes. Perhaps try local favourites reflecting the cruising region. Vegetarian options are readily available at each meal. There is also a 'Sip & Sail Cocktail Hour' with complimentary wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks.

Main Restaurant
Enjoy gourmet cuisine at lunch and dinner in the ship’s main restaurant with open seat dining in one sitting. For dinner, normal dress is smart casual. Gala and Farewell Dinners tend to be dressier, but not formal.
Chef's Table Restaurant
This speciality restaurant on Europe ships is an intimate dining alternative to the main restaurant, seating just 28 guests. It features a view of the chef as he prepares an array of gstronomic courses. Enjoy dishes paired with unlimited dine wines hand-selected to complement the meals.
Casual Dining in the Main Lounge
At lunch, you can choose to enjoy snacks, sandwiches and light dishes served in the Main Lounge. Guests can also enjoy tapas between meals in the main lounge.
