Norway and Spitsbergen Sportsman Route Special Offer

In 1896, Hurtigruten’s founder Captain Richard With, opened a hotel on Svalbard. He wanted to make the hotel available for pioneer tourists, hestarted the 'Sportsman’s route' the same year between Hammerfest and Svalbard. This Sportsman’s route was considered the start of Hurtigruten's expedition voyages. Discover south Norway's verdant spring foliage, the white-capped mountains of north Norway and the Arctic wilderness of Svalbard on this expedition cruise, with opportunities for hiking, kayaking and walking in the spectacular scenery.

Visit small islands and local fishing communities to learn about their history, culture and daily lives and perhaps hike up mountains to enjoy stunning views. Sail through the spectacular Geirangerfjord before visiting the Art Nouveau town of Alesund. Andalsnes enjoys a stunning setting, with nearby attractions including the Trollstigen mountain road and Vernafossen waterfall.

There is the chance to hike up to the North Cape monument before sailing to Svalbard where the isolated island of Bjornoya has the largest concentration of sea birds in the Northern Hemisphere and a large population of polar bears.
