Join Magellan in London Tilbury and journey to the quirky city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Admire the unusual architecture before cruising to the art nouveau town of Alesund where turrets and towers rise from spectacular buildings. Perhaps climb to summit of Mount Aksla for stunning views of the town.

In Tromsø, the Capital of the Arctic, witness the impressive Arctic Cathedral and take a cable car to the summit of Mount Storsteinen for wonderful views of the city. An overnight stop in Alta provides ample time to witness the magic of the Aurora Borealis and visit the towns old markets and pretty harbour. Head to the tiny city of Honningsvag, from which you can explore the magnificently dramatic North Cape.

Discover an array of historic treasures in the Trondheim including the impressive Nidaros Cathedral which was built over the grave of St. Olav, Norway’s patron saint. Beautiful Bergen which is nestled against a glorious mountainous backdrop, is the perfect final port of call. Admire the traditional wooden buildings of colourful Bryggen wharf or journey to the top of Mount Fløien for outstanding panoramic views before heading back to London Tilbury.

Land of the Northern Lights to Norway

Day 1 - London Tilbury (UK)

Embark Magellan in London Tilbury.

Day 2 - Rotterdam (Netherlands)

Rotterdam's architecture is an intriguing mix of old and new. The city was founded in 1328 and today modern glass skyscrapers stand side-by-side with buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Day 3 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 4 - Ålesund (Norway)

Alesund was rebuilt in an art nouveau style following a fire in 1904. Admire the magnificent buildings with turrets and towers or walk up the 418 steps to the summit of Mount Aksla for stunning views of the town. The Jugendstilsenteret in the former Swan Pharmacy celebrates Alesund's architectural history.

Day 5 - At Sea

Day 6 - Tromsø

Tromso is located around 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle and lays claim to the world's northernmost university, cathedral and brewery. The cable car ride to the summit of Mount Storsteinen offers stunning views of the city, which is built on two islands. The Arctic Cathedral is one of the landmarks of Tromso and The Polar Museum is just one of the city's museums.

Day 7-8 - Alta

Alta is the largest town in Finnmark and located on the banks of the Alta River, popular for salmon fishing. The town has three centres. Bossekop is traditional, Elvebakken is home to the airport and harbour, and the new town features a variety of shops. Large areas of woodland surround the town which is one of the best places to see the magical Northern Lights.

Day 9 - Honningsvåg

Honningsvaag is one of the smallest cities in Norway and lies on the south-eastern side of Mageroya island in the Barents Sea. It is the starting point of excursions to the dramatic North Cape.

Day 11 - Trondheim

Trondheim is a city of old and new with beautiful architecture, a rich variety of historical sites, museums and art galleries. Visit the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral which boasts an impressive West Wall, richly ornamented in stone with magnificent stained glass windows.

Day 12 - Åndalsnes

Andalsnes is located at the end of Romsdalfjord at the mouth of the Rauma River. The river attracted British aristocrats at the end of the 19th century. Today, it is the administrative centre of Rauma and the start of the Rauma Line, a vintage steam train journey. Perhaps take the optional excursion along the winding Troll Path Road.

Day 13 - Bergen

Bergen is beautifully located against a backdrop of seven mountains. Perhaps take the funicular ride to the summit of Mount Fløien for panoramic views of Bergen, or explore the traditional wooden buildings of the colourful Bryggen wharf.

Day 15 - London Tilbury (UK)

Disembark Magellan in London Tilbury.
