Join astronomy expert John Mason for this exciting voyage along the Norwegian coast in search of the spectacular Northern Lights, with insightful lectures on board.
John Mason will bring the night skies of the high Arctic to life as he delivers lectures on the science behind the aurora borealis as well as how to take the best photographs of this natural phenomenon. There will also be talks on topics such as the planets, eclipses of the sun and moon, and life on the International Space Station. John will also accompany an exclusive visit to the planetarium at the Science Centre in Tromso, where you'll enjoy an impressive show about the polar sky.
The voyage commences in Bergen and highlights include Trondheim, overlooked by the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral, and the Arctic capital of Tromso. You'll also call at Honningsvag, from where you'll visit the legendary North Cape, and at the picturesque town of Alesund, renowned for its Art Nouveau architecture.

Astronomy and the North Cape Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Bergen (Norway)
Fly from the UK to Bergen and embark your ship, ready to begin the Arctic adventure.
Day 2 - Molde - Kristiansund
Travel along the Atlantic Road between Molde and Kristiansund, considered one of Norway's most beautiful roads.
Day 3 - Trondheim
Stroll along the streets of Trondheim, overlooked by the spectacular Nidaros Cathedral. There is an array of cafes and restaurants, as well as a host of optional activities including hiking, biking and kayaking.
Day 4 - Bodo
Bodo has a fascinating Aviation Museum and is the gateway to Saltstraumen which has the strongest tidal current in the world.
Day 5 - Tromso
Tromso is the capital of the Arctic and has a rich history. It is home to the iconic Arctic Cathedral and there are incredible views from the top of Mt Fjellheisen. Join your astronomy lecturer, John Mason, on an exclusive visit to the planetarium at the Science Centre in Tromso. You'll enjoy an impressive show about the polar sky in the Arctic, the constellations and the Aurora Borealis.
Day 6 - Honningsvag
Honningsvag is the gateway to the North Cape which can be visited on an included excursion. Take in the scenery as you travel to Europe's northernmost outpost. There will be plenty of time to visit the Globe Monument and the North Cape Hall.
Day 7 - Kirkenes - Vardo
Kirkenes and Vardo are your most northerly ports of call, less than 20 miles from the Russian border. Being this far north, there is a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights.
Day 8 - Hammerfest
Hammerfest is one of the most northerly towns in the world, and the arctic pioneering spirit is clearly evident here.
Day 9 - Svolvaer
Experience the breathtaking Trollfjord with its soaring walls, before taking in Lofoten's spectacular scenery.
Day 10 - Bronnoysund
Cruise past the 'Globe' which marks the Arctic Circle, then admore the impressive mountain of Torghatten with its iconic natural tunnel.
Day 11 - Alesund
This beautiful city is renowned for its Art Nouveau architecture. Perhaps enjoy a stroll around.
Day 12 - Bergen - UK
A few nautical miles take you to Bergen, the final port of call on this Arctic voyage. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
