Majestic Fjords and Vibrant Cities

Day 1 - 2 - UK - Bergen (Norway)

Fly from the UK and board your Viking ship in Bergen, the charming Norwegian city surrounded by majestic mountains, fjords and glaciers. Dine ashore this evening before spending the night in port. The following morning, board a luxury coach for a relaxing tour of Bergen's sites and enjoy an included visit to the Hanseatic Museum. Alternatively, take the opportunity to visit the home of Edvard Grieg, Norway’s famous composer in Troldhaugen or take a trip to the summit of Mt. Ulriken.

Day 3 - Eidfjord

Cruise through breathtaking fjords into the village of Eidfjord, nestled in the heart of one of Norway’s most scenic regions. Upon arrival in Eidfjord, journey up the valley to Øvre Eidfjord and the Hardangervidda Nature Centre where you can learn about nature and wildlife on Hardangervidda, Europe’s largest mountain plateau. Alternatively, marvel at Norway's gorgeous natural beauty during an optional full-day excursion to Flam. For the more active travellers, perhaps enjoy a tour of Eidfjord from a kayak.

Day 4 - Stavanger

This morning, explore Stavanger and its beautifully preserved Old Town on a guided tour. Admire the 17th century wooden buildings and visit the Norwegian Petroleum Museum to get an insight into life on board the oil rigs and the drama of everyday life at sea. Alternatively, take the opportunity to enjoy a thrilling helicopter ride over the towering fjords and sweeping archipelagos. Or perhaps visit the Archaeological Museum to learn about the Viking Age.

Day 5 - Kristiansand

Kristiansand is a lovely small city near the tip of Sørlandet, Norway’s southland. Discover the city's highlights including the impressive 17th-century Christiansholm Fortress, the fish market at Fiskebrygga wharf, the Old Town with its picturesque wooden houses and the splendid neo-Gothic cathedral during a panoramic tour. Or perhaps board a vintage rail-car for a steam-powered locomotive ride through Norway's stunning countryside on the optional Setesdalsbanen Vintage Railway excursion. If you would like to get active, take the opportunity to join a relaxing two-mile hike through Baneheia and Ravnedalen.

Day 6 - 7 - Oslo

Norway's capital city boasts an eclectic blend of contemporary flair, rich history and spectacular natural views. An overnight stay in port gives you ample time to explore this wonderful city. On a guided tour, admire the once-mighty fortress of Akershus, the splendid Royal Palace and other highlights before enjoying a leisurely stroll through the city’s famous Vigeland Park. Make the most of your time in Oslo by choosing from the range of optional excursions. For example, perhaps discover the history of the Nobel Peace Prize and learn about its creator, Alfred Nobel or enjoy a Privileged Access visit to two of Oslo's most notable museums; the Fram Museum and the Viking Ship Museum.

Day 8 - Gothenburg (Sweden)

A panoramic tour of Gothenburg will introduce you to the city's highlights including Götaplasten, the cultural hub of the city, Gothenburg Museum of Art, the Gothenburg City Theatre, the sculpture of the Greek god Poseidon and Gustav Adolfs Square. You will also experience a civil engineering marvel as you cross the country’s longest suspension bridge. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to Älvsborg Fortress and enjoy an entertaining performance or join an optional visit to the tranquil Gunnebo House and Gardens.

Day 9 - Ålborg (Denmark)

Ålborg straddles both sides of the Limfjord Sound, it is a beautiful historic city which was founded by the Vikings in the late 900s. This morning, stroll along Nytorv (New Square) to see the Renaissance-style Jens Bang’s House, the baroque-style Town Hall, and the charming 14th-century Budolfi Church during a guided tour. Alternatively, opt for a culinary tour led by a local chef to taste traditional aquavit; a herb-infused spirit distilled here since the 15th century. If you would like to get active, join an optional bicycle journey along the fjord with a stop at one of the city's favourite parks

Day 10 - Berlin (Germany)

From port, take the included transfer through the scenic countryside of the Mecklenburg region to Germany’s historic capital, Berlin. Spend the day exploring this fascinating and witness its major sights including Checkpoint Charlie, the remnants of the Berlin Wall and Alexanderplatz Square. Alternatively, enjoy an optional visit to the fairy-tale castle of Schwerin which was once the seat of the grand dukes of Mecklenburg. Or perhaps journey to the Hanseatic city of Rostock and visit the local microbrewery.

Day 11 - 12 - Copenhagen (Denmark) - UK

Arrive in the vibrant city of Copenhagen, your final port of call. With an entire day to explore, pass the brightly coloured houses of Nyhavn, or New Harbor, once the home of Hans Christian Andersen and see the iconic Little Mermaid statue. You may want to consider an optional trip to the ornate Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the inspirational setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Or perhaps, enjoy a canal cruise through the city with live classical music. Spend the night in port. The following morning, disembark your Viking ship and transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
