Exploring the Fjords and North Cape Special Offer

From Hamburg, head to the colourful city of Bergen and explore its charming, historic harbour. Then sail through the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord and admire the outstanding natural beauty before cruising onto the fairy-tale-like town of Alesund.

Soak up the mystical atmosphere of Trondheim and discover the age-old seagoing traditions of Svolvær. Then cruise on to the vibrant city of Tromsø which is often described as the Paris of the North.

Join an optional excursion to the spectacular North Cape from Honningsvåg and spend time exploring the serene village of Reine which has inspired artists. Explore the rich maritime history of Bronnoysund and visit Molde the 'city of Roses' before enjoying a hike in Værlandet.

Exploring the Fjords and North Cape

Day 1 - Hamburg (Germany)

Embark Fridtjof Nansen in Hamburg.

Day 2 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities during relaxing days at sea.

Day 3 - Bergen (Norway)

Bergen is beautifully located against a backdrop of seven mountains. Explore the historic harbour area, fronted by wooden houses dating back as far as the 1300’s or take a trip up to Mount Fløyen on the Fløibanen Funicular.

Day 4 - Geiranger - Alesund

This morning, sail into the UNESCO-listed beauty of Geirangerfjord before cruising on to Ålesund, a fairy-tale-like town. Perhaps visit the popular Art Nouveau Centre or walk up to the summit of Aksla Mountain for amazing panoramic views.

Day 5 - Trondheim

Spend the morning wandering through this historic city which was founded by the Viking king Olav Tryggvason in 997 and boasts a rich cultural life. Admire the architecture and soak up the mystical atmosphere.

Day 6 - Bodø - Svolvær

Cross the Arctic Circle and arrive in Boda, a city surrounded by sea and fjord. Call on the picturesque town of Svolvær, where age-old traditions are still practised before cruising through Raftsundet Strait.

Day 7 - Tromsø

In the lively city of Tromsø, visit the spectacular Arctic Cathedral or perhaps pay a visit to the Arctic Aquarium. Enjoy a wonderful welcome from the friendly locals and stroll around the amazing selection of shops.

Day 8 - Honningsvåg

Honningsvåg is the gateway to the spectacular North Cape. An optional excursion to the North Cape plateau puts you at 71°10’21´N, only 2,000 km away from the Geographic North Pole.

Day 9 - Hammerfest

The market town of Hammerfest was once an important fishing and Arctic hunting settlement. The town is also home to the UNESCO listed Struve Geodetic Arc – a chain of survey triangulations stretching to the Black Sea.

Day 10 - Reine

Spend some time exploring idyillic Reine which has inspired artists like Gunnar Berg since the 1880's. Traditional fishermen's cottages perch on stilts over the waters edge against a background of staggering granite mountains. This gem of Lofoten is truly serene.

Day 11 - Bronnoysund

Bronnoysund is a pretty little town with a rich maritime history. Perhaps visit the Mount Torghatten, the famous formation with a distinctive hole right through it.

Day 12 - Kristiansund - Molde

Visit Kristiansund before crossing the open sea to Molde, known as the 'city of roses' with its unusually rich, lush plant life due to its Gulf Stream location.

Day 13 - Værlandet

Værlandet is a small island group situated north of Sognefjorden with a range of hiking possibilities. Perhaps hike up Mount Alden 481 for spectacular views.

Day 14 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities during relaxing days at sea.

Day 15 - Hamburg (Germany)

Disembark Fridtjof Nansen in Hamburg.
