Explore the fascinating history of Italy, Corsica and Spain on this Mediterranean discovery cruise from Rome to Seville.

Board Aegean Odyssey in Civitavecchia then sail to Livorno. From here visit Florence, the birthplace of artistic legends, then see the iconic leaning tower in Pisa and Lucca's 25,000-seat Roman amphitheatre. Walk in the footsteps of Napoleon on Elba and Corsica and explore the Spanish islands of Menorca and Mallorca.

From the historic port of Malaga there is the opportunity to take the trip to the stunning 13th-century Alhambra Palace, the last Spanish capital of the Moors. See the famous Barbary Apes and underground tunnels at the Rock of Gibraltar then cruise upstream along the Guadalquivir river through the Andalusian countryside to the heart of the beautiful and romantic city of Seville.

Renaissance Italy and Historic Islands Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Rome (Italy)

Fly from the UK to Rome and transfer to Civitavecchia to embark Aegean Odyssey.

Day 2-3 - Livorno

From Livorno drive through the Tuscan countryside to Florence to see the city's remarkable Renaissance art. Visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Basilica di Santa Croce on a tour of the city's churches, or see Michaelangelo's statue of David in the Accademia, explore the famous Uffizi Gallery and enjoy a walking tour past landmarks including the 10th-century Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo Cathedral. The following day there is a full day excursion to enchanting Lucca to see the Romanesque facade of the Cathedral of San Martino, and the city of Pisa with its iconic Leaning Tower.

Day 4 - Elba

Follow in the footsteps of Napoleon on a tour of the island of his exile. Stroll through the picturesque streets of Porto Azzuro, explore the ruined Roman villa at Punta delle Grotte and join the walking tour of Portoferraio's Old Town to see Napoleon's former residences or visit the San Martin Napoleon Museum. Alternatively there is a trip which features a scenic drive across the island to medieval Capoliveri and a wine tasting and sampling of local produce at an old country farm.

Day 5 - Bonifacio (Corsica)

Cruise past the Isles Lavezzi and Maddalena Archipelago en-route to Bonifacio on Corsica where there is time to spend a leisurely afternoon.

Day 6 - Ajaccio

Ajaccio on Corsica's west coast has a beautiful harbour and is dotted with fascinating sites relating to Napoleon, who was born here in 1769. See these sites on a guided tour of the city or travel along the scenic coastal road then head inland to explore more of the island.

Day 7 - Mahon (Menorca)

Mahon is the capital of Menorca and is a picturesque city with Georgian buildings to explore. The island has beautiful crescent-shaped beaches that are amongst the loveliest in the Mediterranean. Explore historic Ciutadella and its ancient architecture, or see the highlights of the island including the 17th-century church on top of Menorca's highest peak and the picturesque fishing village of Fornells.

Day 8 - Palma (Mallorca)

Palma is located on the southern coast of Mallorca. Its Old Town has winding streets lined with interesting boutiques, traditional restaurants and a famous cathedral that towers over the harbour. Discover the city's highlights including Bellver Castle and the breathtaking Cathedral, or tour the city then travel to mountain town of Valldemossa for a tour of the Carthusian Monastery. An optionaltour features a ride on the historic Soller Railway through the Mallorcan countryside.

Day 9 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 10 - Malaga (Spain)

For those wishing to explore Malaga in depth there is a scenic tour past some of the city's highlights followed by a photo stop at the Gibralfaro Castle and a visit to the Picasso Museum, located in the Buenavista Palace. An optional trip through the scenic Andalucia region visits the Alhambra, an outstanding symbol of Moorish heritage in Spain. Tour the palace and its splendid Generalife gardens. Conclude the excursion with a panoramic tour of the city of Granada.

Day 11 - Gibraltar

Explore the The Rock of Gibraltar with a cable car ride to the top, see the famous Barbary Apes, explore the Great Siege Tunnels and visit the Gibraltar Museum in the centre of town.

Day 12 - Cadiz (Spain) - Seville

Cruise along the Guadalquivir river to arrive in this evening in Seville for an overnight stop.

Day 13 - Seville

Disembark Aegean Odyssey in Seville and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
