Get ready for an unforgettable excursion calling on seven Grecian ports, plus a few Turkish interludes along the way. Begin In Istanbul and take time before we depart to explore famed sites like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and Basilica Cistern. Arrive in Kepez, the gateway to Canakkale, Troy, and Gallipoli. Here, a stroll along the Kordon (the waterfront promenade), followed by time spent exploring the vibrant cobbled lanes are both can’t-miss experiences.

Mykonos is your next stop, with its charming shops, bars, and restaurants tucked next to traditional whitewashed homes and churches. After dark, bars and clubs light up, and you’ll be glad we stayed late. With a late stay on the tiny island of Patmos, walk in the footsteps of John the Apostle and visit sites revered in the Christian faith. From here, discover the many epic landmarks of Ephesus. Walk in the footsteps of St. Paul at the Amphitheater and explore the house where Mary, Mother of Jesus, once lived.

Continue your immersion in the Greek Isles with another late stay on historic Rhodes (where you’ll be transported back to the days of the Byzantine Empire) before arriving on Crete, where another late stay awaits. Modern Agios Nikolaos seamlessly blends the charm of a small fishing village with the glamor of a chic resort town.

Chania is next on the itinerary, and offers a third late stay in a row. The second-largest city in Crete with a distinctly Italian air, spend your day exploring its Greek, Ottoman, and Roman influences and unique history. Next, Nafplio is one of the country’s most romantic towns on the doorstep of Mycenae and Corinth. Conclude your immersive Grecian journey with Azamara where modern civilization began in Athens.

9-night Greece Intensive Voyage Itinerary

Day 1 - Istanbul (Turkey)

East meets West in the storied city where Europe and Asia meet. Start in Sultanahmet Square and you can easily explore the intricate architecture of Topkapi Palace, the cathedral-turned-mosque-turned-museum of Hagia Sofia, and the brilliant blues of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Sample kebabs, mezes and more at the city’s endless restaurants and taverns where you’re sure to meet friendly locals and be caught up in their infectious love of life.

Day 2 - Kepez

Kepez is a small seaside town, but real treasures can be found when you explore further beyond the shore. The ancient city of Troy was once just a myth, but archaeological excavations have brought this fabled locale to life. Also within reach of port is the Gallipoli Peninsula, where an ill-fated WWI campaign devastated Allied forces. In Assos, the Temple of Athena sits perched on an acropolis with sweeping sea views.

Day 3 - Mykonos (Greece)

Picture perfect is the best way to describe Mykonos. Idyllic in every way, from the brilliant blue water in its harbour to the rows of 16th-century Venetian windmills, Mykonos is a postcard come to life! Spend your days strolling delightful cobblestone streets and visiting artisan craft shops. And when the sun goes down, discover why locals refer to this hedonistic city as the Ibiza of Greece!

Day 4 - Patmos

The tiny island of Patmos is where the last book of the New Testament was allegedly written. Visit the Cave of the Apocalypse where John the Apostle stayed in AD 95. Fast-forward 993 in the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian which still stands guard over Patmos town. Then, make the pilgrimage back to Skala for a picnic of local delicacies like fresh octopus and savoury cheese pie.

Day 5 - Kusadasi (Turkey)

Kusadasi has many charms, but let’s talk Turkey: The star attraction is Ephesus. Once the second largest city in the Roman Empire, its marble-made Arcadian Street stretches from the 24,000-capacity Great Theatre (where St. Paul used to preach) to the harbour. Nearby sites include the Temple of Artemis, Basilica of St. John, and House of Virgin Mary, where Mary is supposed to have spent her last days.

Day 6 - Rhodes (Greece)

First on your agenda should be the Rhodes waterfront where once stood the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Just a short ride away, the medieval town of Lindos features houses stacked like giant sugar cubes on a steep hill. Hitch a donkey ride to the acropolis at the top for spectacular views of the town and Saint Paul’s Bay.

Day 7 - Agios Nikolaos

Known for having “three faces to the sea”, this port on Crete’s east coast seamlessly blends the charm of a small fishing village with the glamor of a chic resort town. The perfect base for exploring smaller islands around Crete, it's easy to create your own personal paradise in Agios Nikolaos.

Day 8 - Chania

Venetian splendor gives Crete's second largest city a distinctly Italian air. Greek and Ottoman influences add to the city's unique history and culture—each era certainly worth exploring. Framed by a dramatic mountain backdrop, Chania is an exceptional destination for history buffs, with plenty of tavernas and cafés to recharge after a day of discovery.

Day 9 - Nafplio

Prepare to fall in love with Nafplio! Known as one of Greece’s most romantic towns, Nafplio is home to beautiful Venetian homes and neoclassical mansions, as well as inspiring views of Argolic Gulf. Explore the 18th-century Palamidi fortress with someone special, and spend your evening strolling through the idyllic narrow city streets, hand in hand and making memories to last a lifetime.

Day 10 - Piraeus

Start your journey in Piraeus with an archaeological walk past landmarks like the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Ancient Agora, and of course, the Acropolis. Afterwards, head to the Central Market for a feast of fresh fruit and veggies, nuts, olives, and Grecian cheese. Finally, check out a local taverna where you can rub elbows with the locals well into the wee hours of the night.
