A National Geographic expert and photographer join each voyage to share their knowledge and passion, enriching the expedition experience through fascinating presentations and informal discussions.
Ships
Ponant have launched a fleet of Explorer-class ships - Le Champlain (2018), Le Laperouse (2018), Le Bougainville (2019), Le Durmont D'Urville (2019), Le Bellot (2020) and Le Jaques Cartier (2020). These cutting-edge ships carry just 184 passengers and have been designed for expedition cruising in both polar and tropical waters. They feature the latest innovative technology including a multi-sensory underwater lounge called Blue Eye, where guests can enjoy a truly immersive experience. These ships also have a hydraulic platform allowing easy access into the zodiacs.
Le Commandant Charcot (2020) has been specially designed for the polar regions, and features hybrid propulsion to minimise its environmental impact. It carries 270 guests in 135 spacious cabins.
Le Boreal (2010), L’Austral (2011), Le Soleal (2013) and Le Lyrial (2015) are luxurious megayachts carrying up to 264 passengers in spacious cabins. Every ship has a choice of superb dining venues, a theatre for lectures and live entertainment and a fitness centre. In addition, they are Ice Class ships which means they are fully equipped to sail in Polar waters and carry Zodiacs to allow up-close encounters on expedition voyages. The company is committed to the protection of marine and coastal environments, and these latest additions to their fleet qualify for the proposed 'Green Ship' standard.
Le Ponant is a beautiful three-masted sailing ship carrying just 32 passengers. This wonderul ship offers itineraries to the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Cape Verde Islands.
In line with Ponant's philosophy of discovery and enjoyment, selected cruises have lectures and activities around themes including art, literature, classical music and food and wine.
