Seychelles to Madagascar and Mauritius Special Offer

Join luxury ship Le Lyrial in Mahé and embark on a wonderful 13-night expedition cruise. Admire the stunning beaches of La Digue Island and explore Alphonse Island, an impressive natural reserve. Sail to the Glorioso Islands, part of the Scattered Islands and discover an amazing archipelago with exceptional fauna and flora and an abundance of marine turtles.

Head to Madagascar and journey into the traditional villages and tropical rain-forest of Nosi Komba. From Mahajanga, visit the Sacred Lake and learn about the Sakalava tribe or visit the Red Circus, a fascinating sedimentary formation. Relax on the pristine beaches of Nosi Mitsio and explore the old Ankarena plantation on St Mary's Island which is also home to an intriguing pirate's cemetery.

In Taomasina, take the opportunity to see locals going about their day in a small village and enjoy a guided walk through Parc Ivoloina. Enjoy a visit to Réunion Islands where you can visit a small geranium distillery before this cruise comes to an end in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. En-route to the airport there is an included excursion to the town of Curepipe, Grand Bassin lake which is set in a volcano, Black River Gorges and the amazing Chamarel's Seven Coloured Earths.

Madagascar, Réunion and Mauritius

Day 1 - Paris - Mahé (Seychelles)

Fly from Paris to Mahé.

Day 2 - Mahé

Embark Le Lyrial in Victoria on the island of Mahé.

Day 3 - La Digue Island

There are very few vehicles on the island of La Digue. The beaches are breathtaking, with the stunning Anse de Source d'Argent framed by magnificent boulders, said to be the most photographed beach in the world. The crystal clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling.

Day 4 - Alphonse Island

Located just off the Seychelles archipelago, the island of Alphonse once specialised in coconut pressing but is now a natural reserve. The waters surrounding Alphonse Island are home to a variety of fish, from bonefish to barracuda and milkfish. Many birds migrate to the island including the red knot and common chiffchaff.

Day 5 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 6 - Glorieuses (Scattered Islands)

The Scattered Islands form an archipelago of unrivalled beauty in the Mozambique channel. It is made up of two islands, Grande Glorieuse and Ile du Lys, as well as several islets. The archipelago is rich in flora and home to a variety of wildlife. The long beaches of shimmering sand stretch out behind turquoise lagoons, with coral reefs that are home to the world’s highest concentration of sea turtles.

Day 7 - Nosi Komba (Madagascar)

Madagascar is an fascinating blend of Africa and Indonesia. Inland there are terraced paddy fields and traditional homes, while on the coast the memory of pirates give this land a history worthy of famous novels. As for the savannah, it is lined with hundreds of baobab trees. Le Lyrial visits Nosi Komba, a tiny island covered in flora that is often referred to as 'lemur island'. Explore its traditional villages and tropical rainforest with the naturalist guides.

Day 8 - Mahajanga

Choose from one of the two included shore excursions during your time in Mahajanga. Perhaps visit the Sakalava village to meet the locals before heading to the Sacred Lake which is an important place for the beliefs of the Sakalava tribe. Alternatively, board zebu-drawn carriages which will bring you to the heart of the Red Circus, a sedimentary formation from the Quaternary Period which is of great geological and palaeontological importance.

Day 9 - Nosy Mitsio

Nosy Mitsio is a small, beautiful archipelago with pristine beaches and an abundance of dive sites.

Day 10 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 11 - St Mary's Island

From St Mary's Island, perhaps join the included shore excursion. Drive to pirate's cemetery and see the tombs of many pirates, smugglers and slave traders who ended their days on the island. Enjoy a photo-stop at Madagascar's oldest Catholic church, which dates from 1857 before heading to Ankarena. Explore the Ankarena plantation which is the oldest colony of coffee, cinnamon and cloves and was abandoned following the departure of the French. Then enjoy local dances, songs and snacks at the beachfront Princess Bora Lodge.

Day 12 - Toamasina

Choose from one of the two included shore excursions during your time in Toamasina. Perhaps, drive to the palm grove of Ivondro for a guided walk of the plantation before heading to Belvedere to enjoy refreshments and seasonal fruits whilst admiring the panoramic views of the entire palm grove and Ivondro River. Alternatively, board a vehicle and head to Parc Ivoloina, stopping on the way to walk through a village and see locals going about their daily life. Upon arrival at Parc Ivoloina, enjoy a guided walk to a small waterfall and visit the educational zoological park.

Day 13 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 14 - Pointe des Galets (Réunion Islands)

From the pier, drive to the Belvedere of Maïdo passing through little villages before arriving at a wonderful viewpoint. After some time at leisure, drive down to the village of 'La Petite France', the centre of the geranium district. Visit the small geranium distillery to learn about the distillation process and perhaps buys geranium essences and oils.

Day 15 - Port Louis (Mauritius) - Paris (France)

Disembark in Port Louis and transfer to the airport for the return flight to Paris. En-route to the airport there is an included excursion to the town of Curepipe followed by a visit to Grand Bassin lake which is set in an extinct volcano. After a stop at the Black River Gorges National Park enjoy lunch at Rhumerie de Chamarel with included rum tasting. See the amazing Chamarel's Seven Coloured Earths and the 100m-high Chamarel Falls.

Day 16 - Paris

Arrive in Paris.
