Two special 7-day cruises are available on Yasawa Princess, or they can be combined into one 2-week cruise. Explore exceptional dive spots, idyllic sand banks, gorgeous deserted islands and inhabited islands where you can experience local life. Snorkelling lessons are available, conducted by your dive instructors, for the chance to view some of the most beautiful coral reefs up close and personal, with highlights including a night snorkelling experience with nurse sharks and sting rays, a whale shark excursion and a manta ray excursion. Fishing is very important in the Maldives, and there is the opportunity to try your hand at fishing on board Yasawa Princess' own fishing boat. Enjoy fly fishing on deserted islands and sandbanks, and try night fishing too with Maldivian guides.

We can organise flights, transfers and resort stays to suit. The Maldives are world-renowned as a first class diving destination, and at an additional cost scuba diving excursions are available for experienced divers. Explore the clear waters, amazing coral reefs and rich marine life with the chance to spot manta rays, turtles, octopus and whale sharks. Magical Maldives Male - Maamagili Itinerary

Day 1 - Male (Maldives) - Villigili

Transfer from the airport in Male and embark Yasawa Princess which will be anchored just off Villigili, a 20-minute boat ride from the airport. You will be greeted on arrival and assisted to the boat's private tender for the transfer to the boat. After checking in to your cabin there will be a welcome briefing including safety procedures and an informal introduction to your Yasawa Princess cruise where you will meet fellow guests, the dive team and crew members. Enjoy a cocktail on board before dinner and watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Day 2 - South Male Atoll

Relax on the beautiful Kalhuhuraa sand bank this morning and afternoon, where you can relax in the sun and take a dip in the warm Indian Ocean. Umbrellas will be placed on the sandbank for shade. For an additional cost there is the chance to go diving to the Vaagali Caves where are some overhangs along the wall, and schooling fish, Napoleons, whitetips and stingrays can be seen. There is also diving amongst the beautiful coral and marine life of the Vaagali Channel including the possibility of spotting schooling sharks in the incoming current.

Day 3 - Rannali

This morning and afternoon discover the small boutique resort island of Rannali on the western edge of South Male Atoll where there is excellent snorkelling in the surrounding reef. Optional spa facilities can be booked at the resort. This evening there is the opportunity to join an optional night fishing trip using a traditional hand line. Today's optional diving excursions explore the Guraidhoo Corner which is one of the best dive sites in the South Male Atoll with the chance to spot grey reefs, white-tipped sharks, schooilng eagle rays and dog tooth tunas. At the Villivaru Girl pinnacle there are beautiful overhangs to explore and small fish including frog fish and ghost pipe fish.

Day 4 - Vaavu Felidu Atoll

Spend this morning and afternoon at the Alimatha Sand Bank on the eastern edge of the atoll which is surrounded by a turquoise lagoon and the perfect reef for snorkelling. Lunch is on board the boat. There is an optional night snorkelling excursion on Alimatha Resort House Reef for the chance to spot nurse sharks, travallys and sting rays. There is the opportunity to join the diving trip to cross the Miyaru Kandu channel, watching out for sharks and eagle rays, and the Devana Kandu channel where you may spot sharks, Napoleons, eagle rays and turtles.

Day 5 - Anbaraa

This small picnic island is located on the north-western side of Vaavu Atoll whose reef offers the perfect opportunity for snorkelling. The crew will set up a Maldivian BBQ under the stars on the beach for a memorable evening of drinks, music and amazing beauty. Perhaps take the chance to join the optional diving excursion to Rakeedhoo Kandu where there is hard coral, soft coral, overhangs and bigger pelagic fish to discover.

Day 6 - South Ari Atoll

Take the tender to visit the Oshaglai Finolhu sandbank which is surrounded by a healthy hard coral reef, a favourite with snorkellers. Tonight there is an optional night fishing trip where a traditional hand line will be used. Today's optional diving trips explore the protected reef at Kuda Rah Thila with its soft corals, overhangs and thousands of blue-striped snappers, and the Machafushi Wreck which is the only wreck in the region. This purposely-sunk small cargo ship is covered in coral, creating a healthy artificial reef which is home to glass fish, lion fish, scorpions and stone fish.

Day 7 - Ariadhoo - Maamagili

Relax on the sandy beach on this small agricultural island or swim and snorkel in the Indian Ocean. There is an optional whale shark excursion on the dive dhoni in search of these gentle giants; this region in the Maldives has the highest chance of seeing whale sharks. Late afternoon there is a visit to the island of Maamagili to experience the local lifestyle and perhaps do some souvenir shopping. Today's optional dive trips at Maamagili Corner and Kudadhoo Beyru which are easy wall dives outside of the atoll with the chance to spot whale sharks.

Day 8 - Maamagili

Disembark Yasawa Princess in Maamagili and transfer to the airport. Guests on the 2-week itinerary will enjoy an excursion while the other guests embark and disembark.

Magical Maldives Maamagili - Male Itinerary

Day 1 - Maamagili (Maldives)

Day 2 - Hurasdhoo

Relax on this small deserted island's white sandy beach or snorkel among the Nice House reef. Beach umbrellas will be placed for shade if possible. There is an optional manta ray excursion to Rangali Madivaru (Jan - Apr), a manta ray cleaning station. Tonight there is an optional fishing trip where reef fish are caught using a traditional hand line bottom fishing technique - practice catch and release techniques or catch a fish to take back for dinner. Today's optional diving trips include the small pinnacle of Angaga Thila where turtles feed off the corals on the top reef and sharks cruise in the current, and Aiyabe Thila. Dive one side of this 100m-long pinnacle where a large overhang is covered with beautiful hard and soft corals and sharks can be spotted if there is a drift.

Day 3 - Embudu

This small deserted island on the western edge of the atoll is great for snorkelling, with the chance to spot turtles or eagle rays. There are morning and afternoon excursions to this island and beach umbrellas are placed on the beach for shade. Tonight there is an optional fishing trip where a traditional hand line will be used. Today's diving trips include a channel dive with manta ray cleaning station at Moofushi Kandu for the chance to spot grey greef sharks, white tips and eagle rays, whilst at Embudu Thila the small pinnacle with shallow top reef is home to healthy coral and many reef fish.

Day 4 - Raiydhigaa

Spend a full day with a picnic lunch on this superb island which has two narrow channels for vessels to enter. Relax on the long white sandy beach or swim to deeper water for great snorkelling opportunities. Return to the island for a BBQ evening with music and entertainment under the stars. Today's optional diving trips include Dega Thila which is a macro fan's dream where two coral formations give the chance to see leaf fish and ghost pipe fish. At Miyaur Gaa Thila dive the small pinnacle looking for octopus, scorpion, lionfish, sharks and sting rays.

Day 5 - Alikoi Rah

Enjoy morning and afternoon excursions to this sand bank located in the heart of the Ari Atoll which is surrounded by a colourful reef, home to exotic fish, turtles and rays. Later there is a sunset cruise to Maaya Sandbank. Optional diving trips explore the Fish Head underwater pinnacle to see an abundance of marine life amongst the thrilling overhang, and the narrow Kandu Thila reef which is home to white tip and grey reef sharks and Napoleon wrasse.

Day 6 - Maayafushi Sandbank

This large sand bank at the northern edge of the Ari Atoll is home to flocks of seabirds and the reef's colourful coral is perfect for snorkelling. Sun umbrellas will be placed on the sand if conditions allow. Today's diving excursions visit Maaya Thila, one of the most famous night dive sites in the Maldives with the chance to see sharks and sting rays, and Bathala Maagaa Kan where large pelagics cross the channel.

Day 7 - Male

Stop at a sand bank for a final swim in the warm Indian Ocean before arriving in Male where there is the chance to travel by dhoni to visit the local market or shop for souvenirs.

Day 8 - Male

After a relaxing breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean disembark Yasawa Princess in Male and transfer to the airport. Guests on the 2-week itinerary will enjoy a day of relaxation while the other guests embark and disembark, or optional excursions may be available.

Special Features

  • What to Pack: This cruise is a carefree relaxed holiday and the dress code is casual and informal, with emphasis on casual resort wear and swimwear. There are no formal dinners so guests do not dress up for dinner. Some evening there will be a Beach BBQ and your feet will get when when transferring from the ship. In the daytime, shorts and t-shirts are normal for the bar and restaurant, and beachwear on the sun deck and islands. Dress code ashore varies. As the Maldives are a Muslim country, guests are required to respect the dress code of the locals when visiting populated islands which includes covering shoulders and legs.
  • Beverages: The all-inclusive option includes bottled drinking water, juices, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks (beer, house wine, regular spirits including Vodka, Gin, Rum, Brandy and Cocktail of the Day during Happy Hour). Alcoholic beverages will be served between 12:00 and 00:00. Premium spirits, wines and liquors are available for a charge.
  • Dining: The Saloon deck opens into a dining area large enough to accommodate 56 passengers. The warm wood décor along with careful lighting brings a cosy atmosphere into the spacious area. Both local and international cuisine is offered and all meals are buffet style.
  • Billing and Tipping: The all-inclusive package means there will be little to pay on board. However, some things such as diving and fishing are an extra charge plus anything purchased on board other than drinks. Prices are in USD but payments can be made in Sterling and Euro. If you wish to leave a tip as a gesture of thanks then these are placed into a communal tip box and split among the crew.
  • Snorkelling: This cruise takes in some of the most beautiful coral and marine life in the world and there are plenty of opportunities to snorkel.
  • Diving: The Maldives is renowned for its first class scuba diving. Diving can be done throughout the year in the Maldives, however the best time is between November and April when Whale Sharks and Manta Rays are spotted on the South West of Ari Atoll. There are many fantastic dive sites with different degrees of difficulty. There is a Dive Boat (maximum 16 passengers). Full day diving trips and two tank dives will be offered (extra charge) depending on the dive site. Dive equipment is available for rental and dives will be supervised by a dive master or instructor.
  • Fishing - Fishing is a big part of the Maldives and many like to try fishing before finishing the cruise. Yasawa Princess has its own fishing boat which will take you on a trip for fly-fishing and night fishing (extra charge and subject to availability)
