Explore Iceland’s dramatic and unique landscape on this no-fly discovery cruise which also visits Viking settlements in the Faroe Islands and the remote Shetland Islands.

Sail to the remote Shetland Islands where there are archaeological sites dating back over 5,000 years. The remote volcanic island of Heimaey offers the chance to go puffin watching, then sail to Iceland’s cosmopolitan capital Reykjavik where excursions take in the dramatic landscapes of Thingvellir National Park. Cruise to Isafjordur on the edge of the Arctic Circle and on to Akureyri with its landscape of pseudo-craters, lava and geothermal fields. Husavik is a charming harbour full of colourful houses and home to the geothermal Myvatn Nature Baths.

Visit the colourful capital of Torshavn in the Faroe Islands before exploring the Orkney Islands, then admire Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, and the magnificent Stirling Castle.

Iceland to the Faroe and Shetland Islands Itinerary

Day 1 - London Tilbury (England)

Embark Aegean Odyssey in London Tilbury.

Days 2 - 3 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea

Day 4 - Lerwick (Shetland Islands)

Wander the maze of narrow, flagstone streets set behind 18th century sandstone buildings in Lerwick and visit the excellent Shetland Museum and Archives for cultural background. Alternatively discover the remarkable prehistoric archaeological site of Jarlshof, or see Shetland ponies and an ancient castle on a trip to Scalloway and the Tingwall Valley.

Day 5 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea

Day 6 - Heimaey (Iceland)

Heimaey is an island buzzing with wildlife with its spectacular vertical cliffs occupied by multitudes of birds including puffins, fulmars and guillemots. Enjoy an afternoon excursion to Eldfell, the 'mountain of fire' or circumnavigate the island by boat to see the wide range of birdlife including the world's largest puffin colony.

Day 7 - Reykjavik

Explore Reykjavik, one of the world's smallest capital cities. See the beautiful Gulfoss waterfall, the spectacular Strokkur geyser and the dramatic landscapes of Thingvellir National Park, or join the excursion to the famous Blue Lagoon for a dip in the healing waters.

Day 8 - Isafjordur

Visit the fascinating maritime museum in Isafjordur, take a step back in time to the 1950s to see the abandoned village of Hesteyri or take a boat trip to nearby Vigur Island where puffins, eiders and Arctic terns are all abundant.

Day 9 - Akureyri

Discover the pseudo-craters and geothermal fields of the lake Myvatn area near Akureyri and see the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall.

Day 10 - Husavik

Enjoy a whale watching boat trip in one of the best locations in the world from which to watch whales. There is a higher chance of seeing whales in Husavík than any other place in Iceland.

Day 11 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea

Day 12 - Torshavn (Faroe Islands)

Visit the capital of the Danish Faroe Islands and discover the prolific birdlife, charming old town and brightly coloured turf-roofed houses, or travel to the tiny village of Kirkjubour to see the ruins of Saint Magnus Cathedral.

Day 13 - Kirkwall (Orkney Islands)

Pass the Standing Stones of Stenness to the Ring of Brodgar, a huge circle of stones dating back almost 5,000 years, and the ancient village of Skara Brae.

Day 14 - Rosyth

Enjoy an excursion to Edinburgh to take in the highlights of Scotland's capital city, including the historic Old Town quarter which is home to the city's magnificent castle, the famous Holyrood Royal residence, the parliament building and St Giles' Cathedral or enjoy a visit to magnificent Stirling Castle.

Day 15 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 16 - London Tilbury (England)

Disembark Aegean Odyssey at London Tilbury.
