Explore the history of Okinawa which dates back to the 15th-century Ryukyu Kingdom and visit the impressive Shuri Castle before heading to the gorgeous island of Amami Ōshima, known as the Galapagos of the East. Admire the lush vegetation and pretty waterfalls as you hike through Yakushima and discover the magnificent 17th-century Uwajima Castle.

Delve into the history of WWII at Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome, witness the beautiful Shinto Grand Sanctuary of Miyajima Island and wander through the intriguing streets of the ancient Edo-period trading town surrounding Tamano. Day 1 - Manila (Philippines)

Embark Le Lapérouse in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines.

Day 2 - Day 3 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities during two relaxing days at sea.

Day 4 - Hualien (Taiwan)

Hualien is the gateway to Taroko National Park whose claim to fame is the sheer-walled Taroko Gorge. Discover the picturesque Eternal Spring Shrine, a complex clinging to the side of a mountain, made up of several small temples and overlooking a glistening waterfall. Then, admire the spectacular gorges which wind their way through deep canyons along the Tunnel of Nine Turns.

Day 5 - Ishigaki (Japan)

Ishigaki is a tropical island with white sandy beaches, clear blue waters and colourful coral reefs. Idyllic Kabira Bay is located on the northwest coast and is a popular spot for diving and snorkelling. Inland, the landscape comprises palm forests, jungle-clad mountains and mangrove-lined rivers.

Day 6 - Miyakojima

Miyakojima is the fourth largest island in Okinawa and is best known for its beautiful clear ocean and untouched nature. This peaceful island is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Day 7 - Naha, Okinawa

Okinawa is the southernmost of Japan's main islands and has its own, separate history dating back to the 15th-century Ryukyu Kingdom. Sacred temples and an imperial castle contrast with towering skyscrapers. Due to its tropical climate, sugar cane fields and white sandy beaches, Okinawa is sometimes known as Japan's Hawaii. Embrace the lively atmosphere as you stroll along the main street, Kokusai Dori and visit the Makishi Public Market which is nicknamed 'Naha's kitchen'. Then visit Shuri Castle, a medieval building protected by UNESCO and surrounded by lovely gardens.

Day 8 - Amami Ōshima

Amami Oshima, the largest of the Amami Islands is a stunning archipelago known as the Galapagos of the East. The island boasts a unique ecosystem which is one of the many reasons why it is a UNESCO protected site.

Day 9 - Yakushima

The striking island of Yakushima is a paradise for hikers due to its lush vegetation, Mount Miyanoura, the waterfalls and cascades.The symbol of the island remains its many age-old cedar trees which is said to have inspired some of the scenes in the animated film Princess Mononoke. You may also spot wildlife including the Japanese macaque, the sika deer and green sea turtles.

Day 10 - Uwajima

Explore the magnificent Uwajima Castle, which was built in the 17th-century by the powerful Date clan and has a beautiful ornamental garden and bridge. Perhaps visit the Taga Shrine which is dedicated to fertility and is full of phalluses.

Day 11 - Hiroshima - Miyajima Island

Hiroshima is the largest city on Honshu Island in Japan and is known as the City of Peace. This morning, see the sights of Hiroshima including the Peace Memorial Park, Atomic Bomb Dome and Shukkeien Garden. This afternoon, explore the treasures of Miyajima, the 'island sanctuary' which is home to the Shinto Grand Sanctuary. Considered to be one of the most beautiful sites in the Japanese islands, you will be transported by the unique character and the serenity of this sacred site.

Day 12 - Tamano

In the area surrounding Tamano, wander along the streets of Kurashiki, known as the 'white-walled city' thanks to the pretty façades of the houses that line the streets of this ancient Edo-period trading town. Perhaps visit the Seto Ohashi bridge, at 12.5 kilometres it is the world's longest double-decker bridge.

Day 13 - Osaka

Disembark Le Lapérouse in Osaka.
