Exploring the Indonesian Archipelago Itinerary

Day 1 - Benoa (Bali)

Embark Le Laperouse in Benoa.

Day 2 - Pulau Banta (Komodo National Park)

The uninhabited island of Pulau Banta is located in the northern region of Komodo National Park. Home to the famous Komodo Dragon, the park also protects one of the richest marine ecosystems which has resulted in world class snorkelling and diving locations.

Day 3 - Pulau Rinca

UNESCO-listed Rinca is part of Indonesia's Komodo National Park and is almost completely undeveloped with only one small fishing village. The landscape comprises of dense monsoon forest and grassland savannas where Komodo dragons can be spotted. Join a guided walk with the expedition team and local park rangers to search for dragons and other unique flora and fauna.

Day 4 - Kalabahi, Alor (Indonesia)

The island of Alor is known as the island of a Thousand Mokos. The Moko is a small bronze kettledrum which is believed to have originated from Vietnam. Join the expedition team and local guides for a trip by local transport to Takpala village, the Museum of a Thousand Mokos and the thriving main market of Kalabahi to learn more about the Alorese culture of the Takpala indigenous group.

Day 6 - Banda Neira, Molukkas

The islands of the remote Banda archipelago are known as the legendary Spice Islands and were the fabled prize of colonial powers for centuries. Banda Neira is an eclectic mix of Portuguese, Dutch and British architecture, which reflects its long and tumultuous history.

Day 7 - Kei Islands

The Kei Islands are a natural paradise with stunning white-sand beaches and brightly coloured coral reefs offering some of the best diving sites in the world. Zodiacs will take you ashore to snorkel on the fringing reef.

Day 8 - Triton Bay

Triton Bay is one of three regions in the Bird’s Head Seascape, which is now considered by marine biologists to be the epicentre of the Coral Triangle and contains more fish and coral species than anywhere else on the planet. Join the expedition team for a zodiac trip through the spectacular rainforest-capped karst islands then enjoy swimming or snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters.

Day 9 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 10 - Agats

Agats is a small town in the isolated Asmat region, where small thatched villages still hold traditional warrior ceremonies.

Day 11 - At sea

Day 12 - Thursday Island (Australia)

Located at Australia's northernmost tip, Thursday Island is home to the historic military fort of Green Hill which offers magnificent views, and the fascinating Gab Titui Cultural Centre.

Day 13 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 14 - Lizard Island

Lizard Island is on the Great Barrier Reef and its landscape is made up of powdery white sand beaches, rugged grasslands, sparkling blue waters and colourful coral reefs. It is regarded as a sacred place by the Dingaal Aboriginal people and was once used for the initiation of young males. Take the short Zodiac ride to the beach at Watson’s Bay where there is the chance to join a guided walk, relax on the beach or snorkel in the warm clear waters to view the clam gardens.

Day 15 - Cairns

Disembark Le Laperouse in Cairns.
