Sail along the Great Barrier Reef past the legendary Cape York, Australia’s northernmost point, which is one of Australia's largest unspoiled wildernesses. Head to the isolated Asmat region where small villages of thatched houses still practice ancestor worship and warrior ceremonies.

Triton Bay's ancient coral reef is home to a multitude of species of fish, and Zodiac trips can be taken to explore the spectacular rainforest-capped karst islands and the water-filled caves in Sebakor Bay. In the Spice Islands there are stunning sandy beaches and colonial buildings to explore, as well as opportunities for swimming and snorkelling amongst the colourful coral reefs.

Ancient Wonders of Papua and Spice Itinerary

Day 1 - Cairns (Australia)

Embark Le Laperouse in Cairns.

Day 2 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 3 - Cape York

Sail along the stunning Great Barrier Reef, passing the legendary Cape York located at Australia's northernmost point. The region is one of the largest unspoiled wildernesses in Australia, with eucalyptus wooded savannahs and tropical rainforests. To get to the tip of Cape York usually takes 5–7 days over some of the world's remotest roads, however on this luxury cruise you can land directly onto the beach by Zodiac and walk the last 500m.

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 5 - Agats (Indonesia)

Agats is a small town in the isolated Asmat region, where ancestor worship and traditional warrior ceremonies still lie at the heart of life in small thatched villages.

Day 7 - Triton Bay

Triton Bay is one of three regions in the Bird’s Head Seascape, which is now considered by marine biologists to be the epicentre of the Coral Triangle and contains more fish and coral species than anywhere else on the planet. Join the expedition team for a zodiac trip through the spectacular rainforest-capped karst islands then enjoy swimming or snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters.

Day 8 - Sebakor Bay

Enjoy a Zodiac expedition to explore the spectacular system of water-filled caves in Sebakor Bay.

Day 9 - Kei Islands

The Kei Islands are a natural paradise with stunning white-sand beaches and brightly coloured coral reefs offering some of the best diving sites in the world. Zodiacs will take you ashore to snorkel on the fringing reef.

Day 10 - Banda Neira

The islands of the remote Banda archipelago are known as the legendary Spice Islands. In the 16th century, European settlers would come here to get much sought-after cloves and nutmeg. Banda Neira is an eclectic mix of Portuguese, Dutch and British architecture, which reflects its long and tumultuous history.

Day 11 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 12 - Darwin (Australia)

Disembark Le Laperouse in Darwin.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary.
