Columbia and Snake Rivers Itinerary
Day 1 - Portland (Oregon, USA)
Embark your ship in Portland. Enjoy a Welcome Reception tonight.
Day 2 - Astoria
The iconic Astoria Column offers picture-postcard views of this coastal city whose steep hills and beautiful Victorian architecture have earnt it the nickname Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest. Tour the Columbia River Maritime Museum to learn about the area's maritime history.
Day 3 - Mt St Helens (Washington)
Located in the mountains of Washington, this volcano is ideal for hikers and offers superb photo opportunities. Expert guides show the lava dome and explain the effect that the 1980 eruption had on the locals.
Day 4 - Columbia River or Stevenson
Admire the dramatic waterfalls along the 100-mile-long Columbia River Gorge which has 400 dams, making it the most hydroelectrically-developed river in the world. On the reverse itinerary there is a stop at Stevenson, set in a region of scenic beauty. Travel through thick forest to cross the impressive Bridge of the Gods and reach Multnomah Falls. Tour the Columbia River Gorge Interpretive Center to learn about the history and culture of the area.
Day 5 - The Dalles (Oregon)
The historic city of the Dalles was where pioneers once loaded their wagons onto rafts to sail along the River Columbia to Oregon City. Lewis and Clark camped at nearby Rock Fort Camp during their exploration of the Louisiana Purchase territory over 200 years ago. Explore the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center where exhibits showcase the geological activity that created the gorge and there is an aerobatic display by birds of prey.
Day 6 - Richland (Washington) or Pendleton (Oregon)
Richland's REACH Museum portrays the culture and history of the region (forward itinerary only). Pendleton is famous for its beautiful countryisde, indigenous Native American tribes and underground tunnels that were used a hundred years ago for illegal activities (reverse itinerary only).
Day 7 - Clarkston (Washington)
Nestled at the convergence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers in southeast Washington, Clarkston is the gateway to North America's deepest gorge, Hells Canyon. Named for William Clark of the historic Lewis and Clark Expedition, the town features beautiful scenic vistas, year-round recreation, an inland seaport rich in history. Follow the footsteps of the pioneers before us as you explore Clarkston’s natural bounty and small town charm.
Day 8 - Clarkston (Washington)
Disembark in Clarkston.
