Discovering the Dalmatian Coast Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Split - Omis (Croatia)

Fly from the UK to Split. On arrival, transfer to your ship and cruise to Omis.

Day 2 - Omis - Makarska

Situated at the mouth of the Cetina River, Omis’ dramatic location is the envy of the Dalmatian coast. Its long sprawl of beach and twist of alleys in the old town are backed by incredible sheer cliff walls. We enjoy a small boat excursion on the river this morning and sail through the magnificent canyon to Radman Mills; a picturesque area surrounded by mountains. Watch out for local fishermen harvesting fresh mussels and oysters. We then set off on a picturesque cruise along the Dalmatian coast towards Makarska. This is a beach resort with a difference; framed on one side by a long waterfront promenade and backed by the glorious Biokovo mountain range on the other. It’s a very pretty place for a wander. Perhaps stroll along the long, pebbly beach all the way to the lighthouse, or explore the scenic streets and squares of the Old Town.

Day 3 - Makarska - Trstenik - Sipan

Enjoy the views as we sail towards Sipan today. On the way, we dock in the small fishing village of Trstenik; a world-renowned wine producing area. Tucked neatly between the hills of the Pelijesac peninsula, it’s home to renowned producers such as Grgic, Madirazza and Korta Katarina. We’ll stop by Grgic Winery to learn about the production process and enjoy a tasting. After we’ve had our fill, we continue our sailing towards Sipan where we dock overnight. This quiet and peaceful island is almost car-free. The waterfront towns are calm and romantic. Follow the path inland for craggy hills, vineyards, olive groves, and lush plains dotted with the occasional hamlet.

Day 4 - Sipan - Dubrovnik

The combination of beautiful limestone cliffs and bustling atmosphere make Dubrovnik irresistible. This terracotta-topped city never fails to enchant its visitors and fill them with a sense of awe - one visit simply isn’t enough, but we’ll see as much as we can on our overnight docking. Our guide will take us around some of the city’s highlights, including its famed walls and compact squares. We’ll also visit the Franciscan Monastery; a large complex dating back to the 13th century.

Day 5 - Dubrovnik - Mljet

We leave the romance of Dubrovnik behind and sail towards the island of Mljet. This forest-shrouded island is one of the most enchanting and alluring of all the islands in the Adriatic. Boasting a beautiful, rugged coastline, ancient ruins, shady walking paths and zigzagging cycling tracks, it’s easy to see the appeal. In fact, the unspoilt tranquillity of the area was enough to captivate Greek hero Odysseus for several years, or so the legend goes. We enjoy a guided panoramic boat excursion of Mljet before continuing on to nearby Korcula. Steeped in history, dense pine forest and glorious little towns, Korcula is the island that has it all. We’ll enjoy a guided city tour here, where you’ll notice plenty of references to the island’s most famous resident, explorer Marco Polo. We dock overnight and this evening we’ll get a real insight into Croatian culture with a traditional performance of Croatian folk music and entertainment on board the ship.

Day 6 - Korcula - Hvar - Milna

Get your dose of glitz and glamour in Hvar. The 13th-century walls protect the city’s Gothic palaces and marble streets, giving the town an exclusive feel. On arrival, we’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour with a local guide who’ll teach us all about the town’s highlights, including the oldest communal theatre in Europe. The view from the top of the Venetian Citadel is amazing too, if you’re feeling up to the climb. We dock overnight in Milna, a small fishing village, just along from Hvar town.

Day 7 - Split

The buzzing city of Split is Croatia’s second-largest, after Dubrovnik - and it’s the perfect place to see Dalmatian life as it’s really lived. The dramatic coastal mountains make for a picturesque backdrop. A local guide will introduce us to this fascinating city. We’ll stop by the Roman Palace, Diocletian’s Palace, and take in the views of the Old Town roofs from the Cathedral of St Duje’s bell tower. Just a short five-minute walk east from the port and you’ll find yourself at Bacvice beach, where you can sit and watch the local life whizz by. This evening, we’ll enjoy a special captain’s farewell dinner on board. The perfect ending to a memorable holiday.

Day 8 - Split - UK

This morning transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.

The Captain reserves the right to modify the itinerary.
