After an overnight stop in Venice, the city of romance, sail to Urbino, the birthplace of Raphael, for a tour of the Palazzo Ducale and a glimpse of the magnificent Duomo. Split is home to the Palace of Diocletian and the pine-forested island of Korcula is said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Cruise past the beautiful islands of Hvar and Brac then enjoy a leisurely evening in Dubrovnik, the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'.

Dalmatia and Ancient Greece Itinerary

Days 1-2 - UK - Venice (Italy)

Embark Aegean Odyssey in Venice for an overnight stay in the city of romance. The following morning enjoy a tour of this spectacular city with highlights including St Mark’s Square, the Campanile, the Basilica and the 14th-century Doge's Palace. Alternatively, join the optional tour of the famous glass-making island of Murano and colourful Burano.

Day 3 - Urbino

Perched high above stunning countryside, the walled town of Urbino was the birthplace of Raphael. Enjoy a full day tour which showcases the town's main sights, including the Palazzo Ducale and the magnificent Duomo.

Day 4 - Split (Croatia)

This morning, head to the amazing Palace of Diocletian, which when completed, held three temples, a massive mausoleum, and could accommodate 9,000 people. or take the opportunity to explore the town of Salona, home to the most important Roman excavations in Croatia, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trogir.

Day 5 - Korcula - Dubrovnik

Enjoy a guided tour of Korcula's Old Town with its Venetian towers, 14th-century walls and fish-bone layout and visit 14th-century Bishop's Palace, where the art collection includes works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Tiepolo. Walk past the family home of Marco Polo who was apparently born in Korcula in 1254 before sailing past the beautiful islands of Hvar and Brac en-route to Dubrovnik for a leisurely evening ashore.

Day 6 - Dubrovnik - Kotor Bay (Montenegro)

Join the walking tour of the majestic walled city of Dubrovnik, the 'Pearl of the Adriatic' and uncover this UNESCO World Heritage Site's wonderful treasures. Admire its beautiful Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains and explore the Dominican Monastery, the Franciscan Monastery, Sponza Palace and Onofriou’s Fountain. Next enjoy sailing past the stunning fjord of Kotor Bay in Montenegro.

Day 7 - Sarande (Albania)

In Sarande, visit the UNESCO World heritage site of Butrint - a changing settlement from Hellenistic, Roman, Medieval and Venetian times. Butrint is one of the Ionian's most remarkable archaeological sites and one of Albania's most beautiful national parks.

Day 8 - Katakolon (Olympia) - Pylos (Greece)

This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Ancient Olympia; the idyllic sacred site where the first Olympic Games took place in 776 BC. This afternoon, return to the ship for a relaxing evening ashore as your cruise to Pylos.

Day 9 - Pylos

Explore the ancient history of Pylos with a choice of tours. Uncover the secrets of the castles of southern Greece with visits to the castle of Niokastro, one of the most well preserved castles in Greece, and the Venetian castle of Methoni. Alternatively, take the opportunity to visit the ancient city of Messini with its Arcadian Gate, an impressive structure that once acted as an entrance to the city. Explore the immensely-preserved archaeology site of Messini which dates back to 146BC and features an almost-intact theatre, the ruins of a 3rd-century temple and a Byzantine monastery.

Day 10 - Monemvasia - Hydra

Monemvasía is a castle town dating back to the 6th century that has been called the Gibraltar of Greece. Join the morning tour of the narrow streets and visit the 13th-century Church of Christos Elkomenos, home to several Byzantine icons. Perhaps climb up to the 13th-century ethereal Agia Sofia, a domed octagonal church with original wall paintings, for spectacular views. In the afternoon the charming island of Hydra is a tranquil refuge for relaxing in the sun.

Days 11-12 - Athens

Disembark Aegean Odyssey and transfer to the hotel for a 2-night stay. Enjoy a morning tour to the Acropolis with its sweeping views of Athens and visit the wonderful Acropolis Museum where glass floors allow an extraordinary perspective of the excavations of layers of Greek history that lie below. The following day, enjoy time at leisure to explore fascinating sites such as the ancient Agora and National Archaeological Museum.

Day 13 - Athens - UK

Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
