Adriatic and Italian Discovery Itinerary

Days 1-2 - UK - Venice (Italy)

Fly from the UK to Venice and enjoy a private transfer to the Rialto hotel or similar for a two-night stay. Enjoy time at leisure in this beautiful city. Iconic sights include the ornate Saint Mark's Basilica with its Byzantine mosaics, the impressive Doge's Palace and landmark Rialto Bridge.

Days 3 - Venice

Check-out of the hotel and transfer to the port to embark Seven Seas Explorer for your cruise.

Day 4 - Ravenna

Ravenna is renowned for its well-preserved Byzantine mosaics and stunning basilicas and baptisteries. Head into the countryside to the town of Comacchio for a wine tasting at a family-owned farm, discover the Renaissance treasures of Ferrara, a World Heritage Site, or enjoy a tour which showcases some of the world's most beautiful Byzantine mosaics. Alternatively, spend the day exploring San Marino on the slopes of Mount Titano which offers glamorous boutiques and interesting museums.

Day 5 - Dubrovnik (Croatia)

Dubrovnik is known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic' and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a drive along the Zupa Dubrovacka Riviera towards Cavtat where you can enjoy a walk along the promenade, before having lunch at the Old Mill Ljuta and returning to Dubrovnik. Alternatively, see the sights on a tuk tuk ride, cycle through the breathtaking Konavle Valley and enjoy a wine tasting, or walk along Dubrovnik's legendary city walls.

Day 6 - Kotor (Montenegro)

Kotor is nestled in the Gulf of Kotor and its old port is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Join the drive through Montenegro's verdant countryside stopping at the village of Njegusi and red-tiled Budva, enjoy a wine tasting at the Castel Savina winery followed by a visit to medieval Budva, or head to Our Lady's Temple in nearby Prcanj for a classical concert.

Day 7 - Corfu (Greece)

Homer wrote about the island of Corfu in his famous Odyssey. Today you can enjoy a visit to the Ambelonas Wine Estate for a delicious meal paired with carefully selected wines, head to the village of Sinarades and its folklore museum, housed in a 19th-century home, or board a local boat and explore the beautiful caves of Nafiska, Saint Nicolas and Blue Eye. Perhaps discover the Venetian fortress overlooking Corfu's Old Town followed by a meal of traditional Greek dishes.

Day 8 - Naxos (Taormina, Sicily) - Strait of Messina

Naxos is the gateway to Taormina, overlooked by Mount Etna, and renowned for its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre. Enjoy a tour of Mount Etna during which you'll be able to see the crater and remains of lava streams from the eruptions in 2001 and 2002. Alternatively, travel to nearby Taormina and visit the Greek Theatre, Palazzo Corvaia and the Odeon, or sample some of the region's fine wines at Villa San Michele. Later, cruise the Strait of Messina.

Day 9 - Sorrento (Italy)

Sorrento is arguably one of the most beautiful towns in the world and overlooks the Bay of Naples. Enjoy a drive along the coast, passing the village of Santa Agata and stopping at a local farm for a snack accompanied by wine, or discover the island of Capri where Roman emperors Augutus and Tiberius found peace. Perhaps head to the poignant city of Pompeii to see the excavated ruins.

Day 10 - Gaeta

Gaeta has winding medieval lanes, a magnificent castle and a host of Roman monuments. Admire the ornate architecture of Gaeta's old town before driving along the coast, head to the crypt of St Benedict and Roman-built citadel on top of Mount Cassino, or learn about Sperlonga's history on a visit to its archaeological museum. Alternatively, discover the impressive ampitheatre of Minturno followed by a vineyard tour and wine tasting.

Day 11 - Livorno (Florence and Pisa)

Livorno is the gateway to the Renaissance treasures of Florence and Pisa which can be seen on guided tours. Enjoy a relaxing excursion showcasing Florence stopping for photos at Michelangelo Square and allowing time at leisure, or travel to the rolling hills of the stunning Tuscan countryside and visit Lucca for a wine tasting. Perhaps explore Lucca by bicycle or see the sights of both Florence and Pisa on an exciting full-day tour.

Day 12 - Portofino

Picturesque Portofino surrounds a small harbour and is arguably one of the Mediterranean's most beautiful ports. Experience the Italian Riviera from a different perspective on a boat tour, see the sights of Genoa including the pedestrian-only Strada Nuova, or discover Santa Margherita Ligure with its impressive 17th-century villa, beautiful gardens and stunning Baroque church.

Day 13 - Rome - UK

Disembark Seven Seas Explorer and head to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
