Discover Latin America’s beautiful Pacific coast on this expedition cruise to explore the unique culture and stunning landscapes of Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Mexico.

Sail from Ecuador across the Equator to tropical Gorgona Island's verdant rainforest and fascinating volcanic rock formations, then on to the village of Bahia Solano for wildlife watching. Panama's Darien National Park is home to three indigenous tribes and Cebaco Island offers great hiking opportunities through its tropical rainforest.

Costa Rica's national parks are home to tropical rainforest, mangroves, lagoons, exotic birds and several species of monkeys whilst San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua is perfect for a relaxing day on a sandy beach before sailing to Acapulco for a stroll through its historic centre and botanical garden. Finally, we set sail northbound to La Paz, the capital of Baja California in Mexico to complete our adventure.

Ecuador to Baja California Itinerary

Days 1-2 - Guayaquil (Ecuador)

Enjoy an overnight hotel stay in Guayaquil. The city was founded in 1538 and was once the largest shipyard in South America. The following day enjoy a city tour before embarking Roald Amundsen.

Day 3 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 4 - Gorgona Island (Colombia)

Spend a full day exploring Gorgona Island National Park's tropical rainforest and fascinating wildlife.

Day 5 - Bahia Solano

The isolated village of Bahia Solano is surrounded by tropical jungle and sandy beaches.

Day 6 - Darien National Park (Panama)

Stop at Punta Alegre for access to the UNESCO-listed Darien National Park, home to remarkable wildlife and three indigenous tribes; the Embara, Kuna and Wounaan.

Day 7 - Cebaco Island

Enjoy Cebaco Island's beautiful beaches and breathtaking coastline.

Day 8 - Golfito (Costa Rica)

Relax on Golfito's golden sandy beaches or take the opportunity to explore the rainforest and waterfalls of the national park of Piedras Blancas.

Day 9 - Quepos

Quepos is the gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park which is perfect for hiking through the mangroves and rainforest or swimming in the lagoons and coral reefs. The wildlife in the park includes endangered white-faced capucin monkeys, three-toed sloths and hundreds of bird species.

Day 10 - San Juan del Sur (Nicaragua)

The coastal town of San Juan del Sur is renowned for its long curved sandy beach. Explore the town, relax on the beach or join one of the optional excursions.

Days 11-12 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 13 - Acapulco (Mexico)

The famous resort of Acapulco offers sandy beaches, beautiful botanical gardens and an impressive 17th-century fort.

Days 14-15 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 16 - La Paz

Disembark Roald Amundsen in La Paz.
