Rockies Explorer and Alaska Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Vancouver (Canada)
Fly from the UK to Vancouver and transfer to the Fairmount Waterfront Hotel for a 2-night stay before meeting your fellow guests and Tour Director at a Welcome Dinner. (D)
Day 2 - Vancouver
Enjoy breakfast at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park's Cliff House Restaurant, followed by a tour of the grounds. Later, explore with your Tour Director before spending time at leisure. (B)
Day 3 - Rocky Mountains
Check out of the hotel and transfer to the Rocky Mountaineer for your two-day journey. Enjoy GoldLeaf Service on board and take in awe-inspiring scenery along this historic route. On arrival in Kamloops, leave the train and transfer to a hotel for an overnight stay (hotel as assigned by Rocky Mountaineer (Kamloops has limited three-star accommodation). (B,L)
Day 4 - Rocky Mountains
Re-board the Rocky Mountaineer and travel through stunning landscapes including the Spiral Tunnels and Kicking Horse Pass. On arrival in Banff National Park, leave the train and transfer to the Fairmount Banff Springs Hotel for a 2-night stay. (B,L)
Day 5 - Banff
Today there is a range of Freedom of Choice sightseeing excursions in Banff National Park. Go sightseeing with a local guide on the Banff Experience tour; join a float trip along the Bow River or experience a day in the life of a Canadian ice hockey player. For a more relaxing experience there is a day at the Willow Stream Spa. (B,D)
Day 6 - Banff - Lake Louise
This morning hear a Mountie tell tales of the iconic Royal Mounted Police, before travelling through stunning alpine scenery to the Fairmont Chateau hotel overlooking the world-famous waters of Lake Louise, renowned as the jewel of the Rockies. (B,D)
Day 7 - Lake Louise - Athabasca Glacier - Jasper
This morning, journey along the spectacular Icefields Parkway. Stop at Athabasca Glacier for an Ice Explorer ride, then continue to the fairytale setting of Jasper for an overnight stay at the Faimont Jasper Park Lodge. (B,D)
Day 8 - Jasper - Mt Robson - Sun Peaks
This morning, join the Yellowhead Highway with a stop to take in views of Mt Robson then continue your journey to the alpine resort of Sun Peaks. (B,L,D)
Day 9 - Sun Peaks - Whistler
Travel through the Cariboo region, stopping at the picturesque Seton and Duffey lakes, then head to the famous resort of Whistler for an overnight stop at the The Westin Whistler Resort and Spa. (B,D)
Day 10 - Whistler - Victoria
Travel to stunning Horseshoe Bay, then take a ferry to Vancouver Island and travel by coach to Victoria for a 2-night hotel stay at the Hotel Grand Pacific. There is the option to fly via seaplane from Whistler to Victoria (extra cost). (B)
Day 11 - Victoria
Visit the world-famous Butchart Gardens before the crowds and enjoy breakfast in the original Butchart house. Enjoy a special dinner tonight with your fellow guests. (B,D)
Day 12 - Victoria - Vancouver
After breakfast this morning, return by ferry to the mainland, board your ship and settle in for their seven-night Alaska Inside Passage cruise. (B,D)
Day 13 - Inside Passage (Alaska)
Spend today cruising through the majestic landscapes of the Inside Passage. (B,L,D)
Day 14 - Juneau
After breakfast this morning, continue your journey to the Alaskan capital of Juneau. Set at the foot of the majestic Coast Mountains on the Gastineau Channel, this beautiful capital city attracts many travellers despite its remote location. Here, you may explore at leisure, or set off on an exciting excursion (own expense). (B,L,D)
Day 15 - Skagway
Arrive in Skagway at the northernmost point of the Inside Passage. Never failing to intrigue visitors with its wide range of historic buildings and stories to be told, there is a variety of unique excursions on offer (own expense). Or, you can also choose to set out on your own discovery. (B,L,D)
Day 16 - Glacier Bay National Park
Today you will draw back your curtains to the sight of World Heritage-listed Glacier Bay National Park. As you cruise through rivers of ice and between sky-scraping peaks, you'll enjoy commentary from local rangers who have come aboard your ship. They will explain the geological wonders of the passage and hopefully point out some of the diverse wildlife and marine mammals found here, such as sea lions and orcas. (B,L,D)
Day 17 - Ketchikan
Arrive at the city of Ketchikan, set right on the shores of the Tongass Narrows. Ketchikan acts as a gateway to a wide variety of attractions, including Misty Fjords National Monument - one of America's largest wilderness areas. This city also lays claim to the world's largest collection of standing totem poles. (B,L,D)
Day 18 - Inside Passage
Head south back through the Inside Passage, towards your final port of call. (B,L,D)
Day 19 - Vancouver (Canada) - UK
Disembark ship in Vancouver and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK. (B)
Day 20 - UK
Arrive back in the UK.
