Northeast US and Atlantic Canada Itinerary

Day 1 - New York (USA)

Embark Fram in New York.

Day 2 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 3 - Yarmouth (Canada)

Yarmouth is a lovely historic town with fine Victorian homes, museums, churches, wharves and other hidden gems. Perhaps join an excursion to see ornate Captain's homes and the local lighthouse, or take a seaside walking trail through stunning scenery to Cape Forchu.

Day 4 - Halifax

The area around Halifax has been inhabited by native Mi'kmaq peoples for thousands of years whilst Halifax itself was founded in 1749 as a British military outpost. Life here revolves around the sea and the surrounding areas offer plenty of fun activities on land, water and in the air.

Day 5 - Louisbourg

Sail along the east coast of Nova Scotia to the island of Cape Breton where the French military founded the Fortress of Louisbourg in 1713 and its fortified seaport, naming it in honour of Louis XIV. At the Fortress of Louisbourg, a National Historic Site, there is the chance to experience what life was like in the town in 1744. There are plenty of hiking and biking opportunities in this rugged coastal setting.

Day 6 - Baddeck

Baddeck is a quaint little village at the heart of Cape Breton Island. The famed Cabot Trail is here, one of the most beautiful drives in the world, and there are wonderful walks here, including a short hike to the Uisge Ban Falls.

Day 7 - Magdalen Islands

The coastline of the Magdalen Islands is dotted with beaches, harbours, colourful houses and picturesque bays. Native people came to the islands to fish and hunt for seal and sea cows, followed by Basque fishermen. The more active may choose to go kayaking or hike in this relatively flat terrain.

Day 8 - St Pierre and Miquelon

The islands are part of the French Republic and the people living in St Pierre and Miquelon are very proud to be French. Enjoy the bistros, cafés, wine, cheese, baguettes and pastries of this little piece of France. There is the chance to join the optional excursion to Île aux Marins or experience local life with a walking tour of St. Pierre.

Day 9 - Ferryland

Ferryland was the first permanent settlement on Newfoundland, established in 1625. Perhaps visit the interpretation centre, conservation laboratory and 17th-century reproduction kitchen, or join the optional excursion to the south end of the Avalon Peninsula and the Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve.

Day 10 - St John's

Disembark Fram in St John's.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary.
