Enjoy a spectacular cruise on the Saint Lawrence river, from the cosmopolitan city of Montreal to the cobbled streets of Old Quebec and the stunning scenery of the Saguenay Fjord.

A guided tour of Montreal reveals the city's highlights before cruising to Quebec City for a tour of Old Quebec City's cobblestone streets and enchanting Petit-Champlain neighbourhood. There is the option to explore the Ile d'Orleans with a trip to the magnificent Montmorency Falls. Sail along the Saguenay Fjord which is home to an incredible range of wildlife and amazing scenery, then return to the St Lawrence river for a visit to the colourful village of Tadoussac. Here there is an optional boat trip to go whale watching in the Saguenay-St Lawrence Marine Park.

In Baie-Comeau there is the chance to join an excursion to step back in time to the last Ice Age at the Garden of the Glaciers and learn more about the life of a lumberjack in Franquelin. From Gaspe there is an optional trip to Bonaventure Island to see the bird sanctuary containing the largest gannet population in North America during the summer. Continue on to the beautiful Magdalen Islands then experience the unique French atmosphere of Saint Pierre and Miquelon on a guided tour, before returning to Montreal for an overnight hotel stay.

Canada and the St Lawrence River Itinerary MSP_PP / SPM_PP

Day 1 - Montreal (Canada)

Embark ship in Montreal at 6pm. Meet the crew at a Welcome Cocktail Reception then enjoy dinner on board.

Day 2 - Montreal

This morning there is an included guided tour of Montreal with highlights including Saint-Paul Street, Place Jacques-Cartier and the outside of the Notre-Dame Basilica. This afternoon there is an optional guided tour of the city that includes a tasting of some Montreal-style smoked meat and free time in the Jean Talon farmer's market in the heart of Little Italy.

Day 3 - Quebec City

Arrive in Quebec City this morning where there is an included guided tour of Old Quebec City to see its cobblestone streets, magnificent Chateau Frontenac and the fairytale-like Petit-Champlain neighbourhood. This afternoon there is an optional excursion to the Ile d'Orleans for a countryside stroll with a tasting of local delicacies and a visit to the majestic Montmorency Falls.

Day 4 - Saguenay

Cruise along the breathtaking Saguenay Fjord which is home to an incredible array of wildlife. There is an optional excursion to La Pulperie, a museum set within an old paper mill which is dedicated to the arts and history of Chicoutimi city.

Day 5 - Saguenay - Tadoussac

Cruise back along the Saguenay river to reach the St Lawrence and cruise to the colourful village of Tadoussac. There is an unforgettable optional whale watching trip on board a local boat.

Day 6 - Baie-Comeau

Perhaps join the optional excursion to the Garden of the Glaciers to learn about the history of the last Ice Age in the region, then head to the lumberjack village in Franquelin to tour rustic log cabins and see everyday items from pioneer times.

Day 7 - Gaspe

Arrive in Gaspe, where there is the chance to join an optional trip to Perce for a boat tour around the impressive Perce Rock to Bonaventure Island to see the gannet bird sanctuary.

Day 8 - Magdalen Islands - Cap-aux-Meules

The beautiful Magdalen Islands lie in the middle of the St Lawrence river. There is an optional tour of Cap-aux-Meules island to see the superb scenery from the Herisse Cape lighthouse, the Fumoir d'Antan smokehouse and the Economuseum.

Day 9 - Saint Pierre

Arrive in St Pierre and Miquelon this afternoon to experience a slice of France in North America. French fishermen took up residence here in the early 19th century and created a prosperous market. There is an optional boat trip to L'Ile-aux-Marins for a guided tour of the uninhabited island to see the ghost town that includes a school, church and cemetery. Festive gala evening tonight.

Day 10 - Saint Pierre - Montreal

Enjoy an included guided tour of Saint Pierre and the Arche Museum and Archives. Have lunch in a restaurant before transferring to the airport for the flight to Montreal. Check in to your 4* hotel in Montreal and enjoy dinner.

Day 11 - Montreal

Check out of your hotel after breakfast.
