Across the Northwest Passage Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Copenhagen (Denmark)

Fly to Copenhagen for an overnight hotel stay.

Day 2 - Copenhagen - Kangerlussuaq (Greenland)

Board Scenic Eclipse in Kangerlussuaq, the gateway to Greenland, sitting at the eastern end of a deep fjord.

Day 3 - Ilulissat - Disko Bay

As you cruise through Disko Bay, while approaching the Iluissat Icefjord, there's one thing you won't be able to miss; the icebergs. In fact the town of Ilulissat is named from the Inuit word for iceberg.

Days 4-5 - Inuit communities

Explore the Upernavik region, the small uninhabited island of Tugtutog and the remote village of Kullorsuaq. The remoteness has left well-preserved archaeological treasures, uncovering ancient peat houses from the Thule civilisation.

Day 6 - Crossing Baffin Bay

Not navigable for most of the year due to ice cover and numerous icebergs, part of Baffin Bay, known as the North Water, opens up in the summer when the temperatures are around 4-5 degrees. Keep watch for the elusive beluga whales and narwhals, while passing icebergs provide the perfect opportunity to spot harp seals and bearded seals.

Day 7 - Pond Inlet (Canada)

On Baffin Island, located at the mouth of the famous Northwest Passage, there is a small Inuit settlement. Pond Inlet or Mittimatilik meaning 'where the landing place is' in the Inuit language is the major centre of Inuit art and has the largest population of artists per capita. Surrounded by spectacular snow-capped mountains, fjords and glaciers, your exploration of Pond Inlet will leave long-lasting memories.

Days 8-17 - Northwest Passage

Venturing into the Northwest Passage, navigating delicately through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, Scenic Eclipse will take you through this once impassable route. Connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, this region is remote and isolated and very few have had the option to travel here. From John Cabot to James Cook and John Franklin, many explorers set out to discover this fabled route and failed, now you can go further than they were ever able to.

Days 18-19 - At sea

Relax and enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 20 - Bering Strait

As you round the northern point of Alaska, you will sail through the Chukchi Sea to the Bering Strait, between the Arctic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. 51 miles wide as you cruise north with Alaska to your port side and the Chukotka region of Russia to starboard, you will be crossing the International Date Line and straddling time zones with two different dates and a 21-hour time difference.

Day 22 - Nome (Alaska) - Anchorage

Disembark Scenic Eclipse after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight to Anchorage.

Day 23 - Anchorage - UK

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Day 24 - UK

Arrive back in the UK.
