Excursions

Daily excursions take guests to gorgeous deserted islands and beautiful sand banks where beach umbrellas provide shade and there is the chance to swim or snorkel in the warm Indian Ocean. Visiting inhabited islands allows you to experience local culture and do some souvenir shopping. The crew set up a Maldivian BBQ on the beach for a memorable evening of drinks and music under the stars.

Fishing is very important in the Maldives, and there is the opportunity to try your hand at fishing on board Yasawa Princess' own fishing boat. Enjoy fly fishing on deserted islands and sandbanks, and try night fishing under the stars with Maldivian guides.

The richness and variety of the underwater world is astonishing; dazzling coral walls, magnificent caves and schools of brightly coloured tropical fish await. Snorkelling lessons are available, conducted by dive instructors, for the chance to view some of the most beautiful coral reefs. Highlights include a night snorkelling experience with nurse sharks and sting rays, a whale shark excursion and a manta ray excursion. The Maldives is a first-class diving destination, and scuba diving is available for experienced divers. Over 50 fascinating dive sites ranging from easy to difficult levels offer the chance to spot manta rays, turtles and whale sharks.

The Maldives

The Maldives is a tiny, remote Indian Ocean paradise comprised of 1,190 coral islands, grouped into atolls. Each atoll is made of a coral reef surrounding a lagoon and a string of islands, of which only 200 are inhabited. The culture of the Maldivians has been influenced by the Arabs, Indians, Sri Lankans and North Africans who travelled the trading routes of the Indian Ocean. The Maldives enjoys sunny days, balmy evenings and stunning sunsets, with the warm Indian Ocean a delight to swim in at any time of year.
