Featured Cruise Line - Viking River Cruises
Blue Water started selling Viking River Cruises in 2002. Back then, their UK arm was called Travel Renaissance and was based in an office above a Chinese restaurant in Epsom.
Since then, they have become Viking River Cruises universally, and their Scandinavian owner has secured millions of pounds in investment. This has led to a new range of Viking ‘longships’ on the European rivers, of which 20 will be built in the next two years. These ships include sit-on balcony cabins, French-window cabins, and two large wrap-around suites at the stern of the ship. The ships also offer a superb outdoor-indoor informal dining and sitting area at the bow (front) of the ship.
Viking River Cruises is proud that it uses its own staff on its Europe ships on rivers such as the Rhine and Danube. It also charters ships in other parts of the world – notably on the Yangtze river in China, the Mekong in Vietnam and Cambodia, and the popular Moscow to St Petersburg route in Russia.
Another innovation from Viking is their sponsorship of UK TV programmes – helping to bring river cruising to a wider audience. Blue Water Holidays works closely with Viking River Cruises, with exclusive pricing on many river cruises, and is a UK top seller of Viking cruises.
Recently announced is a new range of three 900 passenger ocean ships, to sail under the Viking Ocean Cruises banner, probably from 2014/15.
