Culinary Expedition Cruise with Nobu Matsuhisa Itinerary
Day 1 - Bali (Indonesia)
Embark your ship in Benoa on the island of Bali.
Day 2 - Sumbawa Island
Sumbawa is a surfers paradise and also popular with snorkelers and divers. Inland is Mount Tambora, a volcano which overlooks this idyllic island. Optional excursions are hiking outside Badas, and an exploration of Sumbawa Besar, learning about the culture, people and history.
Day 3 - Komodo Island
Ringed by steep hillsides, Komodo Island is simply stunning. It is the largest within the Komodo National Park and is home to a spectacular pink beach, which gets its colour from the red coral. It is also where you'll find the world's largest lizards, the Komodo Dragons. There is an optional visit to Rinca Island to see the rare Komodo Dragon.
Day 4 - Larantuka
Larantuka is located at the base of the Gunung Ili Mandiri volcano and was once the epicentre of missionary work in the region. Perhaps join optional excursions and visit Lewokluo Village and see the handmade ikat, or explore Larantuka Morning Market and Riang Pedang Village.
Day 5 - Kalabahi
Admire the stunning Maimol Beach and maybe head to the Seribu Moko Museum to see the traditional ikats and bronze drums. Other optional activities including snorkelling at Pura Island and a scenic drive to Alor Kecil and visit to the 1000 Moko Museum.
Day 6 - Lucipara
This nature preserve is favoured by green turtles, crested terns and various seabirds. These beautiful atolls in the middle of the Banda Sea provide opportunities for adventure, including hikes and snorkelling.
Day 7 - Banda Neira
Located in the volcanic Banda Archipelago, Banda Neira is nicknamed the 'Spice Island'. This is due to its precious nutmeg and mace.
Days 8-12 - Raja Ampat
In the heart of the Coral Triangle lies the diving haven of Raja Ampat. It is home to some of the world's richest marine biodiversity, and the famed Blue Magic dive site holds the world record for the number of potential species encountered in a single dive.
Day 13 - At sea
Enjoy a relaxing day at sea.
Day 14 - Thursday Island (Australia) - Cape York
Thursday Island lies at the northern tip of Queensland off the Cape York peninsula. Thursday Island served as Australia's defence centre during World War II and remnants still remain. There is a complimentary historic tour, as well as a Horn Island WWII walk. There is an optional flight over Thursday Island. Continue to Cape York, the northernmost point of the Australian continent. It is an untamed wilderness with tropical rainforests, beaches and woodlands. You might see kangeroos and crocodiles. Perhaps join the optional tour and stand on Australia's northernmost point.
Day 15 - Great Barrier Reef
Discover the UNESCO-listed Great Barrier Reef.
Day 16 - Lizard Island - Ribbon Reefs
Lizard Island is regarded as a sacred place by the Dingaal Aboriginal people and is nestled on the Great Barrier Reef. With white sandy beaches and colourful reefs, it is ideal for hiking, swimming and snorkelling. The island's most famous resident is the yellow-spotted monitor. Continue to Ribbon Reefs. These ten coral reefs are just off the Great Barrier Reef. They are some of the best diving locations in the world.
Day 17 - Cairns
Disembark your ship in Cairns.
This itinerary balances days at sea with scheduled ports of call, and is intentionally designed to be flexible, allowing the Captain and his team of experts to incorporate unplanned "expedition days" when weather conditions are favourable. The order of expedition calls and stops may change due to weather/sea conditions or permit specifications.
