Intro to Spitsbergen: Fjords, Glaciers and Wildlife of Svalbard Itinerary
Day 1 - Longyearbyen (Svalbard)
Arrive in Longyearbyen, the largest settlement in Spitsbergen. Embark your ship and set sail.
Days 2-8 - Spitsbergen
Your cruise will cover western Spitsbergen as well as the breathtaking fjords and outlying islands located in the north. The landscape here is just as varied as the wildlife, from polar flora to impressive glaciers. Some of the places you may be lucky enough to visit include the 14th July Glacier, Smeerenburg, Alkefjellet and the Hinlopen Strait. Each destination will be chosen based on optimum wildlife viewing. This remote archipelago is one of the best places in the world to see polar bears set against a backdrop of mountains and ice. The cliffs of Alkefjellet are a haven for thousands of Brunnich's guillemots, while walrus haul-outs are a common sight. In addition to the wildlife, there is no shortage of natural beauty, from icebergs to colourful wildflowers scattered amongst the tundra.
Day 9 - Longyearbyen
Return to Longyearbyen and disembark the ship.
