Discover the magnificent architecture and colourful street murals of Buenos Aires, or perhaps learn to tango, which is reported to have begun in the city. Fly to Ushuaia to embark Le Lyrial then traverse the famous Drake Passage and the Polar Front. Sail to the frozen continent of Antarctica where Zodiac excursions bring you into the closest contact with the icebergs, or take you into the heart of the penguin colonies.

The exact itinerary will vary depending on weather conditions, but potential places visited include the heavenly site of Neko Bay, the Gentoo penguin colony at Pleneau Island and volcanic Deception Island. Wildlife encountered on this cruise include fur seals, wandering albatross, giant petrels and colonies of Chinstrap and Adelie penguins.

Days 7-13 - Antarctica

On arrival in Antarctica the itinerary becomes flexible in order to maximise your discovery of this enchanting world of ice and water. There will be frequent Zodiac rides for up-close encounters with penguin colonies and seal rookeries. At the end of Andvord Bay is a truly heavenly spot at the foot of a vast glacier; Neko Bay is without doubt one of most beautiful sites on the Antarctic Peninsula. Mountains, snow, ice and nature in the wild combine to offer a unique landscape. South of the Lemaire Channel, Pleneau Island is the site of a large colony of Gentoo penguins. We may be lucky enough to spot Leopard seals, which hunt the Gentoo. Port Charcot is a sheltered bay on the west side of Booth Island. Look out for colonies of Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie penguins. Port Lockroy on the small island of Goudier was discovered by French explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot in 1903. Today, it is home to the United Kingdom Heritage Trust Station. Deception Island is nestled at the heart of the South Shetland Islands and home to the largest colony of Chinstrap penguins in the Antarctic Peninsula. The island is volcanic and has an interesting flooded caldera which opens to the sea.
