Adventure to Antarctica Southbound Special Offer

See the amazing scenery of Patagonia, the Falkland Islands and Antarctica on this unique expedition cruise.

After an overnight hotel stay in Montevideo join Midnatsol and sail south to the UNESCO-listed nature reserve of Puerto Madryn, home to fantastic wildlife including elephant seals, Magellan penguins and the southern right whale. Visit the Falkland Islands including the capital, Stanley, where optional excursions include kayaking in the clear waters and hiking through the countryside looking for local wildlife.

Cross the legendary Drake Passage to Antarctica where Zodiac landings, hikes and kayaking allow for up close encounters with thousands of penguins and seals. Locations that may be visited include beautiful Neko Bay, the glacier at Wilhemina Bay and Cuverville Island, home to a large colony of Gentoo penguins.

Adventure to Antarctica 2019 Itinerary

Days 1-2 - Montevideo (Uruguay)

Enjoy an overnight hotel stay in Montevideo. The following day, join the tour of this lively capital city before embarking Midnatsol.

Days 3-4 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 5 - Puerto Madryn (Argentina)

Visit the Valdez Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed nature reserve located on Argentina's Patagonian coast. It is home to some of the country's most dramatic wildlife, from elephant seals to Magellan penguins, the southern right whale and a wide variety of birds. Choose from a range of optional excursions including horseriding, snorkelling or kayaking with sea lions, whale watching or a visit to Estancia San Lorenzo to see rheas, guanacos and elephant seals.

Day 6 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Days 7-9 - Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands are said to look like a miniature England, with red phone boxes and red buses. Explore Stanley, capital of the Falklands, or join the expedition team in the wild surroundings with options for joining bird watching tours, nature walks or a plane ride over the islands.

Days 10-11 - Drake Passage

Named after Sir Francis Drake, this stretch of water betweeen South America and the Antarctic Peninsula has numerous myths and legends connected to it. Relax on board and perhaps watch a film about Antarctica or attend educational lectures.

Days 12-14 - Antarctica

There are no permanent human inhabitants in Antarctica but it is home to millions of penguins and the feeding area for thousands of whales. Words simply cannot describe the feeling of being on the Great White Continent. The ice, wind and weather dictate life in Antarctica as well as our route. Every voyage is unique and our experienced crew will make all voyages an experience of a lifetime. Locations that may be visited include Cuverville Island, home to a large colony of Gentoo penguins, beautiful Neko Harbour and stunning Half Moon Island.

Days 15-16 - Drake Passage

Relax on board whilst cruising back through the Drake Passage.

Day 17 - Ushuaia (Argentina) - Buenos Aires

Disembark Midnatsol in Ushuaia and transfer to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires.

Please note: The 21 October 2020 departure is a 18-night itinerary which spends an extra night in Antarctica. For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary. Itineraries vary according to ice and weather conditions - and the wildlife encountered.
