Rockies and Alaskan Wilderness Adventure Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Vancouver (Canada)

Fly from the UK to Vancouver. On arrival, transfer to the Vancouver Fairmont Waterfront Hotel for a two-night stay. Spend time at leisure before meeting your fellow travellers and enjoying a Welcome Dinner. (D)

Day 2 - Vancouver

Enjoy a guided tour of Vancouver with a local guide showcasing the main sights, including the beautiful Stanley Park or Granville Island, bursting with culture. Later, admire panoramic views of picturesque English Bay. Enjoy time at leisure this afternoon and evening. Perhaps explore Gastown or head to Robson Street, a shopper's paradise. (B)

Day 3 - Kamloops

This morning, board the Rocky Mountaineer and relax in your beautiful GoldLeaf carriage. Pass awe-inspiring scenery as the train follows the Thompson River to Kamloops, where you'll stay the night in a hotel. (B,L)

Day 4 - Banff

Rejoin the Rocky Mountaineer and head towards the stunning Canadian Rockies. Pass ranchlands, the tranquil Shuswap Lake and follow the South Thompson River. See the impressive Spiral Tunnels and traverse Kicking Horse Pass, before arriving in Banff National Park. Leave the train and check-in to the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel for a two-night stay. Day 5 - Banff

The World Heritage-listed landscapes of Banff National Park await. Today there is a choice of sightseeing tours. Join the Banff Experience tour which includes a visit to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, enjoy bird's eye views on a heli-flightseeing trip, or take a float trip along the Bow River. Other options include a tour of the Canmore Eagle's dressing room, and the chance to relax at the Willow Stream Spa. (B,D)

Day 6 - Banff - Lake Louise

This morning, learn about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as you meet a Mountie during an exclusive Signature Experience. Later, take the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for spectacular views. You'll then enjoy another exclusive Signature Experience - a stroll by Lake Louise with an expert Mountain Heritage Guide. Afterwards, travel to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise where you'll stay the night. This evening, you can dine in any of the magnificent restaurants in the hotel. (B,D)

Day 7 - Lake Louise - Jasper

Join the Icefields Parkway and travel along one of the world's most stunning stretches of icefields, valleys and glaciers. Stop to take in Peyto Lake and the giant Columbia Icefield. Here, you will step onboard the purpose-built Ice Explorer vehicle and head onto the Athabasca Glacier. Continue via Athabasca Falls to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge on the shores of Lac Beauvert, for an overnight stay. (B,D)

Day 8 - Jasper

Today you'll travel along the Yellowhead Highway, stopping to take in breathtaking views of Mt Robson. On arrival in Blue River, you'll enjoy an exclusive Signature Experience. Board a specially-designed boat and cruise the waterways keeping an eye out for grizzly and black bears. Enjoy lunch before heading to Sun Peaks, where you'll stay the night in the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 9 - Whistler

Journey through the scenic Cariboo region taking in the rural town of Lillooet. You'll also stop at the beautiful Seton and Duffey lakes before re-entering the Coast Mountains. Later arrive in the alpine village of Whistler for an overnight stay at the Westin Whistler Resort & Spa. (B,D)

Day 10 - Victoria

From Whistler, travel south to picturesque Horseshoe Bay via Shannon Falls. Take a ferry to Vancouver Island and visit the tiny city of Nanaimo, then board a coach to Victoria taking in Chemainus. There is an optional floatplane flight from Whistler to Victoria (own expense). Two-night stay at the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria. (B)

Day 11 - Victoria

Enjoy an exclusive Signature Experience as you visit the pretty Butchart Gardens before the crowds and have breakfast in the original Butchart residence. Later, choose from a selection of excursions. Enjoy a whale-watching cruise, take a seaplane flight, join a guided tour and learn about the city's heritage, or take afternoon tea at the Fairmont Express Hotel. Alternatively, go salmon fishing or enjoy a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. Special dinner this evening. (B,D)

Day 12 - Victoria - Vancouver

After breakfast, take the ferry back to the mainland and head to the port to embark Seven Seas Mariner for your all-inclusive cruise.

Day 13 - Inside Passage

Enjoy the awe-inspiring vistas as you cruise the legendary Inside Passage.

Day 14 - Ketchikan (Alaska)

Ketchikan on Revillagigedo Island has a thriving salmon industry and was once nicknamed the 'Salmon Capital of the World'. It is also known for its fantastic collection of totem poles. Watch a lumberjack competition as Alaska's frontier lumberjacks compete against British Colombia's premier woodsmen, enjoy a cruise around picturesque George Inlet and a crab feast at a lodge, or join a city tour taking in the top attractions, including the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary. Perhaps visit a Saxman Native Village and learn about everyday life or board a canoe and cruise in search of wildlife close to the Tongass.

Day 15 - Juneau

Joe Juneau and Richard Harris found gold nuggets at the mouth of Gold Greek which triggered the largest gold digs in the world. Visit the Mendenhall Glacier and enjoy a catamaran cruise, sample beers and spirits on a brewery and distillery tour, or pan for gold in the legendary Gold Creek. Alternatively, board a kayak and admire the pristine beauty of North Douglas Island and take in the Mendenhall Glacier in the distance.

Day 16 - Skagway

The Tlingit refer to Skagway as 'Skagua' which means 'windy place'. It was once known as the gateway to the gold fields and still retains its character. It was once home to Soapy Smith, King of the Frontier Con Men, and its Trail of 98 Museum houses fascinating gold rush exhibits. Join a tour which showcases Skagway's main sights and the famed White Pass & Yukon Route railway, or head to the Klondike Goldfields to pan for gold. Perhaps enjoy a guided hike and rafting adventure on the Taiya River, or cycle through the rainforest on a relaxing excursion.

Day 17 - Sitka

Sitka was founded by Russian fur traders and was the centre of Russia's Alaskan empire. Today it is known for its thriving fishing industry and outstanding natural beauty. Excursions include a cruise in search of Alaska's abundant marine life including otters and whales, a tour of the Alaska Raptor Centre, and a guided walk through the city followed by the breathtaking Sitka National Historical Park where trails will take you through the Tongass National Forest. Alternatively, join the sea kayaking adventure or enjoy a brewery visit and salmon lunch as part of a tour which also takes in the Alaska Raptor Centre.

Day 18 - Hubbard Glacier

Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you cruise the stunning Hubbard Glacier.

Day 19 - Seward (Anchorage) - UK

Disembark Seven Seas Mariner in Seward and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Day 20 - UK

Arrive in the UK.
