Explore Johannesburg before flying to Kasane to stay at a lodge for three nights. Enjoy a full day safari in jeeps in the Chobe National Park, home to more than 1/4 of the total elephant population. Board small private boats to sail the Chobe River. Visit an authentic village on Impalila Island in Namibia and learn about the culture and customs. Take a small plane on to Kariba and discover the ecosystem at Lake Kariba. Spend the next three nights on your ship. See the rare and mysterious landscapes of Lake Kariba and look out for unique wildlife during a small private boat trip. One of the many highlights of this trip is Matusandona National Park in Zimbabwe. This untouched area is home to many species of animals including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and big cats.
After an exciting stay on board ship, fly out to Victoria Falls. See spectacular views from the foot of the falls and see where the Zambezi River plunges off the cliff to become the widest waterfall in the world.

Southern Africa Itinerary
Day 1 - Johannesburg (South Africa)
Meet at the hotel at 11:30. Join your guide and have lunch before visiting the Apartheid Museum. It is famous around the world for being the first museum centering on South African history in the 20th century, and more particularly on Apartheid. Afterwards, we’ll set off for a panoramic tour of the city. Arrive at the hotel and settle into your room before dinner.
Day 2 - Johannesburg - Kasane
Fly from Johannesburg to Kasane, Botswana. Transfer to your lodge on small private boats. You may see numerous bird species or even hippo basking in the sun. Be greeted upon arrival and settle into the lodge, located in an island created by a tributary of the Zambezi River. Have dinner and spend the night in the heart of the wilderness.
Day 3 - Chobe National Park
Enjoy a full day safari in Jeeps to explore the Chobe National Park which is home to more than 1/4 of the total elephant population in Africa. Enjoy lunch in a 'floating restaurant' in the middle of the river where the views of the surrounding nature are unparalleled. Afterwards, board small private boats and sail off on Chobe River all the way to Sedudu Island and its marshes. Have dinner and spend the night at the lodge.
Day 4 - Impalila Island
Travel to an authentic village on Impalila Island in Namibia to discover the traditional Namibian houses, cultures and customs. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy time at leisure or perhaps join a private boat to discover more of the Zambezi River. Tonight a local will tell more about the traditions of the island.
Day 5 - Kasane - Kariba
After a water safari in the Chobe National Park area, enjoy lunch then transfer to Kasane Airport and board a small private plane. Take in the stunning views over Lake Kariba and the changing landscapes. After arriving in Kariba, transfer to your ship then sail across the lake.
Day 6 - Lake Kariba
At sunrise the ship will sail through the landscapes of Lake Kariba. Set out on small private boats to discover Gache Gache River and its unique wildlife. Return on board for lunch. Later sail towards Changa then set out in small boats to admire the sunset.
Day 7 - Lake Kariba - Matusadona National Park
This morning enjoy a safari to discover the Matusadona National Park, home to numerous animal species including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo and thousands of birds. You may even spot a 'big cat'. This is a protected area where hunting is strictly prohibited. Enjoy lunch on board before sailing in the afternoon. During an afternoon on board, have a round table discussion about the creation of Lake Kariba and the ecosystem.
Day 8 - Kariba - Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Disembark ship and transfer to the airport. Discover the gigantic Kariba Dam, created in 1955 to form Lake Kariba. Today, the dam serves as a source of electric power for 70% of Zimbabwe. You’ll get to discover the history and legends surrounding the creation of the lake, including the tale of NyamiNyami, the river god. Fly to Victoria Falls on small private planes. Enjoy an exceptional lunch cruise on the Zambezi River, upstream from the falls. This afternoon, leave for a tour on foot of the falls where the views are among the most exceptional in the world. Also see where the Zambezi River plunges over the cliff to become the widest waterfall in the world, creating the 'smoke that thunders'. Tonight enjoy a 'Boma' dinner with traditional dance and music. Spend the night at a hotel.
Day 9 - Victoria Falls
Check out of the hotel after breakfast. There is an optional early morning helicopter trip over Victoria Falls (extra cost, must be booked before departure).
