Along the South African Coastline

Day 1-2 - Cape Town (South Africa)

Embark Le Lyrial in the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. An overnight stay offers ample time to explore this fascinating city which is situated in one of the most beautiful bays in the world and is dominated by the famous Table Mountain. Take the opportunity to walk to the highest peak on Table Mountain or enjoy an optional excursion to eerie Robben Island; which was once a place of punishment for exiles and prisoners. See Nelson Mandela's former cell and get up close to the array of wildlife which now occupy the island, including African Penguins, seals and chameleons.

Day 3 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities during relaxing days at sea.

Day 4-5 - Port Elizabeth

Known as the 'friendly city' due to its welcoming locals, Port Elizabeth is one of South Africa's major city's and boasts beautiful beaches and rich wildlife as well as numerous historic monuments. Perhaps join the optional excursion to the Pumba Game Reserve to spot the 'big five' in their natural environment. Be on the look out for the African lion, the African elephant, the Cape buffalo, the African leopard and the rhinoceros whilst driving through this fascinating game reserve. Alternatively, visit the Addo National Park which is home to over 450 African elephants.

Day 6 - At Sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities during relaxing days at sea. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre.

Day 7 - Richards Bay

Richards Bay is one of the country’s cleanest and most environmentally responsible towns despite being South Africa's second port. The town is popular with water sport enthusiasts and nature lovers due to its ideal location in the heart of the Hluhlume Game Reserve. Perhaps join an optional excursion to St. Lucia Wetlands and enjoy a two-hour leisurely cruise on Lake St. Lucia admiring the wildlife before heading to Veyane Village to study the customs and rites of traditional Zulu life.

Day 8-9 - Durban

Arrive in the seaside city of Durban, the final port of call. Durban boasts long beaches backed by sparkling skyscrapers and the nearby Valley of a Thousand Hills is the ancestral land of the Zulu people. Enjoy an optional excursion to this geographically wonderful part of the world where you can experience modern and olden day African tribal culture in the traditional and spectacular homeland of the Zulu. Or perhaps take the opportunity to tour nearby Pietermaritzburg, a small city with old-world charm, country living and beautiful Victorian architecture before visiting the Natal Museum and KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden.
