From the Tierra del Fuego and its vast glacier valleys to the colourful villages dotted along the South American coastline, your expedition ship will take you to the diverse and contrasting landscapes of Chile cruising deep into the maze of the Chilean Fjords.

Zodiac boats will take you into the heart of these areas where you can see Humpback whales in the water and Magellanic penguins nestling nearby. Chiloe is a verdant island with remarkable architecture and a wide range of wildlife species which you will see as you cruise to Castro where seals and porpoises are often seen swimming alongside with the ship.

Your ship takes you picturesque Puerto Natales at the southern tip of Chile, gateway to the beauty of the Torres del Paine National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An amazing diversity of fauna lives in this extraordinary environment. At the end of the cruise you will discover the world's southern-most city, Ushuaia, capital of Tierra del Fuego.

Forward Itinerary

Day 1 - Valparaiso (Chile)

Embark Le Boreal, Le Soleal or L'Austral in Valparaiso.

Day 2 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board as Le Boreal or Le Soleal heads to Castro.

Day 3 - Castro

Visit the historic city of Castro. Perhaps discover the Vilupulli church, a National Monument, or head to Chonchi, known as the “three-story town” as its houses are arranged in steps on the hillside.

Day 4 - Puerto Montt

Puerto Montt is the fascinating capital of the Lake District and is home to an impressive neoclassical cathedral. Close by is the serene Lake Llanquilhue and the villages of Puerto Varas and Frutillar.

Day 5 - At sea

Relax on board during a day at sea.

Day 6 - Tortel

Your ship cruises to the Patagonian village of Tortel which is located between the Northern and Southern Patagonian Ice Field. See its houses on stilts and explore its endless streets. The village is also home to several impressive sculptures.

Days 7-9 - Chilean fjords

Cruise the Chilean fjords.

Day 10 - Puerto Natales

Puerto Natales is located on the shores of Seno Ultima Esperanza and is the gateway to the Torres del Paine National Park with its breathtaking lakes, lagoons and waterfalls.

Day 11 - Chilean fjords - Magellan Strait

Cruise the Chilean fjords and Magellan Strait.

Day 12 - Beagle Channel

Cruise the Beagle Channel.

Day 13 - Cape Horn and Beagle Channel

Your ship navigates Cape Horn and cruises the Beagle Channel.

Day 14 - Ushuaia (Argentina) - Buenos Aires

Disembark Le Boreal, Le Soleal or L'Austral in Ushuaia and transfer to the airport for your direct flight to Buenos Aires.

Reverse Itinerary

Day 1 - Buenos Aires (Argentina) - Ushuaia

Fly from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and embark Le Boreal.

Day 2 - Cape Horn (Chile) - Beagle Channel

Le Boreal enters Chilean Patagonia and sets sail for the beautiful Tierra del Fuego archipelago and iconic Cape Horn. Due to the legendary storms and often rough seas around Cape Horn, it has always been seen as a challenge for seafarers.

Day 3 - Strait of Magellan

Le Boreal navigates the Strait of Magellan which separates South America from Tierra del Fuego.

Day 4 - Chilean fjords

Le Boreal cruises the breathtaking Chilean fjords, teeming with an array of wildlife.

Day 5 - Puerto Natales

Puerto Natales with its brightly coloured houses is located in the heart of Chilean Patagonia. Pedro-Montt avenue offers spectacular views of the Almirante Montt gulf, while the Museo Historico has exhibits about indigenous history. Puerto Natales is also the closest settlement to the UNESCO-listed Torres del paine National Park.

Days 6-7 - Chilean fjords

Spend two days exploring the stunning Chilean fjords.

Day 8 - Tortel

The quaint fishing village of Tortel is located in southern Patagonia and its streets are a delight to explore. Perhaps admire the views from the many wooden pontoons or see the fascinating sculptures dotted around the village.

Day 9 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during a day at sea.

Day 10 - Puerto Montt

Puerto Montt is the fascinating capital of the Lake District and is home to an impressive neoclassical cathedral. Close by is the serene Lake Llanquilhue and the villages of Puerto Varas and Frutillar.

Day 11 - Chiloe - Castro

Le Boreal cruises through an archipelago consisting of 40 islands before arriving in Chiloe, a beautiful island with wooden churches which are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The island also has brightly coloured wooden houses on stilts, known as Palafitos. Later, cruise to Castro.

Day 12 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during a day at sea.

Day 13 - Valparaiso

Le Boreal arrives in Valparaiso. Perhaps hop on one of the funiculars for stunning views or discover the city's magnificent architecture. Alternatively, why not head to the UNESCO-listed Historic Quarter.

Day 14 - Valparaiso

Disembark Le Boreal.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary. PLEASE NOTE: On 4 Mar 2019 departure, Day 2 is spent navigating Cape Horn, Day 3 cruising the Beagle Channel and Day 4 crossing the Strait of Magellan.
