Clothing
Dress aboard and ashore is casual, and we suggest you dress comfortably. Bring sturdy walking shoes for sightseeing excursions. Dinner attire is 'smart casual'. The Captain's welcome and farewell nights are dressy, but not formal - no dinner jackets required.
Cruise Director
An experienced, English-speaking Programme Director is on board every departure. He/she is there to ensure your comfort and answer questions.
Electricity
Electricity on board is 220v with European-style sockets. Bring an adaptor or converter to use personal electric items.
Hair dryers
All ships have hairdryers for passenger use..
Internet
In Europe, Russia and Ukraine there is complimentary WiFi accessibility. There is an Internet cafe onboard in China.
Laundry
Laundry services are available; price lists are in your cabin. Clothes cannot be dry cleaned on board.
Library
The ship's library lends books free of charge. Please return the books before the cruise ends.
Medical services
Although there is no doctor on board European ships, close proximity to land means medical services can be rapidly obtained. There are doctors on board ships in Russia, Ukraine and China.
Money and Credit Cards
Most countries you will visit in Europe use the Euro. China's currency is the Renminbi (RMB). Many locations accept major credit cards; however for incidentals or small vendors you will want local currency. ATM machines are located at most stops, except small towns.
On board language
Staff, crew and tour guides speak English and all lectures and announcements will be made in English.
Safety Deposit Boxes
Most ships have in-room safes. To store valuables on ships without in-room safes, please see the reception desk.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted indoors on any ship.
Special occasions
Passengers celebrating special occasions should alert us one month prior to departure.
Telephones
Cabins have their own telephone (except Mekong). If you bring a mobile phone ensure that it will work in the countries visited - it may need enabling by your service provider.
Television
All cabins except those on the Mekong are equipped with a colour television. The new Longships have a TV with premium entertainment package.
Tipping
Tips are not included in your holiday price. The suggested amount is the equivalent of €10 per passenger per day, which will be split among the shipboard staff. Additional tipping is at your discretion. On board tips may be charged to a credit card.
Your shipboard account
At the end of the cruise, you may pay your shipboard account in cash or by credit card: Eurocard, MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Ships cannot accept travellers cheques for payment.
