Cruise the St Lawrence River in Canada -
explore the famous Thousand Islands and the cities of Ottawa,
Montreal, Toronto
and visit Niagara Falls

Flowing from the Great Lakes that border the USA and Canada, the St Lawrence River and the Ottawa River pass through spectacular scenery of forested shores, rocky islands and dramatic waterfalls. They provide the historic waterfronts to the fascinating cities of Montreal and Ottawa.

Our cruise holidays on the charming MV Canadian Empress retrace the routes of early explorers, passing through some of eastern Canada’s most beautiful scenery along the way.

The mighty St. Lawrence River
The St Lawrence has been an important passage between North America and the Atlantic Ocean since it was first navigated by Jacques Cartier in 1534 who named the land on its shores ‘Canada’. The history of this frontier between the USA and Canada, and between English and French culture, is uncovered in the ‘living museums’ and towns along our journey.

Within one fifty-mile stretch near the limestone city of Kingston, there are no less than 1,870 islands. Amid these ‘1000 Islands’, birthplace of the famous Thousand Islands Dressing, you will discover intricate river channels, sumptuous greenery and mysterious coves cloaked in folklore. Opulent mansions and castles stand along a stretch of river known as Millionaires Row.

The Ottawa River is the largest tributary of the St. Lawrence and drops by 1100 feet over its 790-mile length. This results in some spectacular rapids like those at Ste. Anne and Carillon, which had once made the river impassable until ingenious locks and canal sections were built.

Our cruise package bring opportunities to explore Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston and the stunning Niagara Falls.

Explore Fascinating Cities
Ottawa, the compact capital of Canada, combines beautiful parks and waterways with fine state buildings guarded by the ‘Mounties’. Vibrant Montreal, known for its ‘joie de vivre’ is a cosmopolitan city with plenty to explore. Toronto boasts a thriving restaurant scene and a wealth of world-renowned buildings including the CN Tower giving breathtaking views from the Space Deck.
