Taste of Bordeaux Itinerary

Day 1 - Bordeaux (France)

Embark AmaDolce in Bordeaux and enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening. (B)

Day 2 - Cadillac

Cruise to Cadillac to visit the Sauternes wine region and taste the highly sought-after sweet wines. See the historic Roquetaillade Castle, a fortress which was initially built in the 10th century by Charlemagne as his army advanced toward the Pyrenees. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Pauillac

Take a guided tour of Pauillac, situated in the Medoc wine region where some of the world's finest Bordeaux wines are produced. Enjoy wine tasting this afternoon before returning to the ship. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Blaye - Bourg

Take in the riverside scenery as you cruise from Pauillac to Blaye, a town north of Bordeaux renowned for its red wine. Today there is an excursion to the city's 17th-century citadel - a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has impressive views across the Gironde estuary. Alternatively join the bike tour through vineyards and past chateaux. There is also the option to visit a cave to see prehistoric cave paintings. This afternoon cruise or cycle to Bourg at the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers and enjoy an exclusive festival of music and wine. In 2018 you will visit the Carriage Museum and the WWII underground passageways. The ship remains in Bourg overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Bourg - Libourne

This afternoon arrive in the wine-making capital, Libourne, close to the St Emilion and Pomerol wine regions. Taste the unique blends in St Emilion, a historic village where the vineyards were first introduced to the land by the Romans, and visit the Underground Churches, or join a guided bike tour followed by a wine tasting. The ship moors overnight in Libourne. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Libourne - Bordeaux

Tour the magnificent Chateau Vayres or explore the well-preserved local bastide town. There is the option to hike through the countryside followed by a wine tasting. This afternoon enjoy a Fronsac wine tasting or visit the Chateau de Montaigne, a stunning 14th-century castle which was the family residence of the philosopher, Michel de Montaigne. Cruise to Bordeaux this evening and enjoy the Farewell Dinner with the Captain. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Bordeaux

Today there is a guided walking tour of Bordeaux, the breathtaking capital of the wine world which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a tasting at the Wine Museum. For a more active way to view the city join the guided bike tour. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Bordeaux

Disembark AmaDolce in Bordeaux.
