River Rhine to Switzerland Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Cologne (Germany)
Take the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels or fly from the UK to Dusseldorf and transfer to your ship, moored in Cologne. The dedicated crew will welcome you aboard your five-star floating hotel.
Day 2 - Koblenz
Cruise past the rolling hills along the Rhine including the Siebengebirge (seven mountains) to picturesque Koblenz. Founded by the Romans, this city is located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. This afternoon explore at leisure and see the medieval buildings, traditional shops and Rhineland cafes.
Day 3 - Rudesheim
Cruise through the dramatic Rhine Gorge and past the famous Lorelei Rock, a highlight of this cruise, as you continue along the Rhine to Rudesheim. This afternoon discover the town at leisure relaxing in the cafes, strolling through the vineyards or perhaps enjoying a cable car ride to the statue of Germania.
Day 4 - Speyer
Cruise past the vineyards which produce the popular Liebfraumilch wines. Moor in medieval Speyer. During the 16th century Martin Luther was excommunicated in nearby Worms, and his followers in Speyer protested at this and for the first time they were called 'Protestants'. Visit the neo-gothic Gedaechtniskirche, built to commemorate this event and the richy decorated Basilica.
Day 5 - Strasbourg
Relax on board as you cruise upstream to Strasbourg in France, capital of the Alsace region and now one of the centres of the European Union. Enjoy a walking tour of its unique 16th century old town. Captain's Dinner on board this evening serving delicious regional specialities.
Day 6 - Breisach (Germany) - Titisee
Visit the ancient town of Breisach before driving amidst some of the more stunning scenery of the Black Forest this afternoon. See the rugged vallets, cascading waterfalls and rolling hillsides covered in densley packed pine trees. Visit the archetyical town of Titisee, nestling on the shores of its crystal clear lake. Cruise to Switzerland this evening.
Day 7 - Lucerne (Switzerland) - Bernese Oberland - Interlaken
Take a short drive to Lucerne this morning, Switzerland's most beautiful city, nestled among stunning mountain views. Stroll along the Chapel Bridge - a unique covered wooden walkway crossing the lake supported by stilts, lined with colourful window boxes. The scenery becomes even more dramatic as we enter the Bernese Oberland in central Switzerland. This is the Alpine heart of Europe. Take a short trip to Interlaken situated between two shimmering lakes.
Day 8 - Basel - UK
This morning take the TGV to Paris, connecting with the Eurostar back to London St Pancras or alternatively drive to the airport for your return flight home.
