Castles along the Rhine Itinerary
Day 1 - UK - Amsterdam (Holland)
Fly to Amsterdam and transfer to the port to embark your ship.
Day 2 - Cologne (Germany)
Enjoy a walking tour of Cologne. Stroll along the streets of the Old Town and discover the magnificent cathedral, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important gothic churches in Europe. Alternatively, beer lovers will enjoy the visit to a brewery to taste Kolsch, the traditional local brew of the city, and art lovers can tour Museum Ludwig, one of Europe's most important contemporary museums. Captain's Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner this evening. Note: On Sundays and Catholic holidays, guided tours in the cathedral will not be possible.
Day 3 - Koblenz
Enjoy a guided walking tour of Koblenz with its narrow streets and the 12th century churches of St Florin and Our Lady. Alternatively, take the aerial tram across the Rhine to Fortress Ehrenbreitstein, or join the exclusive guided 'Go Active' bike ride with a visit to Marksburg Castle. The aerial tram to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is only available on tours that depart on or after April 3rd.
Day 4 - Rudesheim
Explore Rudesheim and its famous narrow Drosselgasse before a private tour and wine tasting at a 14th-century castle. The more adventurous may wish to join the exclusive guided 'Go Active' hike which includes a gondola trip up to the Niederwald Heights. Cruise along the UNESCO-protected Upper Middle Rhine to Boppard for a guided walk.
Day 5 - Speyer
Your guided tour through Speyer reveals a medieval town with a grand heritage and a compact historic centre. During the tour you will view the largest Romanesque cathedral in Europe. Alternatively visit Doktorenhof vinegar estate to try the unique aperitifs made from wine vinegars.
Day 6 - Strasbourg
See Strasbourg in the way it has been viewed for centuries - on a canal cruise. In addition to viewing the covered bridges, medieval watchtowers and the European Parliament, see the 'Petite France' district. Alternatively enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town stopping for patries and coffee.
Day 7 - Breisach
From medieval Breisach, the gateway to the Black Forest, you can explore the historic centre of Colmar or visit the wine villages of Kayserberg and Riquewihr. This evening, enjoy a Captain's Farewell and Gala Dinner.
Day 8 - Basel (Switzerland) - UK
Disembark in Basel and transfer to the airport.
