This 15-day expedition cruise on MS Fram travels deep into the southern oceans. Travel through some of the most spectacular natural scenery on Earth, following Patagonia's breathtaking coastline and crossing the Drake Passage into the dramatic landscapes of Antarctica's sublime wilderness.

The first leg of our journey sails from Ushuaia on the toe of Argentina, through the scenic Beagle Channel towards Chile. We spend the next 4 days experiencing the landscape and wildlife of South America's southernmost point. We visit the Diego Ramirez Islands, a small group of islands where a number of southern seabirds have nesting sites. We will explore the beautiful coast of Patagonia and sail through the famous Magellan Strait, where we can see the Magellanic penguin breeding site on Magdalena Island.

Our journey then takes us through the Drake Passage as we enjoy onboard lectures to learn more about the wonders of Antarctica.

We spend 5 days in Antarctica on specially built MS Fram, where we have the opportunity to view Penguin colonies, seals, numerous sea birds and magestic icebergs. Depending on weather and ice conditions, we may visit Deception Island, Cuverville Island, Neko Harbour, Paradise Harbour, Waterboat Point, the Lemaire Channel, Petermann Island, Port Lockroy, home to the British Antarctic Survey; Wilhelmina Bay, the Antarctic Sound otherwise known as Iceberg Alley and Brown Bluff.

Itinerary
Day 1
Ushuaia

Fly to Ushuaia and embark the MS Fram, set sail through the scenic Beagle Channel towards Chile.

Day 2-6
Tierra del Fuego, Diego Ramírez Islands,Navarino Island, The Magellan Strait, Punta Arenas

Spend the next 4 days exploring the remote area of Tierra del Fuego, South America’s southernmost point. On your itinerary are visits to Diego Ramírez Islands, a small group of islands located in the southernmost extreme of Chile and an important nesting site for a number of southern seabirds; legendary Cape Horn and Puerto Williams on Navarino Island. Continue through the fabled waters of Patagonia and sail in one of the world’s most remote and beautiful places, The Magellan Strait. Here you will find a Magellanic penguin breeding site on Magdalena Island and also call at Punta Arenas, a centre for trade, seafaring and culture.

Day 7
Drake Passage

Whilst crossing the Drake Passage enjoy on board lecturesto learn more about the wonders of Antarctica.

Day 8-13
Antarctica

In Antarctica. During your time in this pristine wilderness you will encounter Penguin colonies, seals, numerous sea birds and magnificent icebergs. Your final itinerary is subject to local weather and ice conditions but may include Deception Island, Cuverville Island, Neko Harbour, Paradise Harbour, Waterboat Point, the Lemaire Channel, Petermann Island, Port Lockroy, home to the British Antarctic Survey; Wilhelmina Bay, the Antarctic Sound otherwise known as Iceberg Alley and Brown Bluff.

Day 14
Ushuaia

Cross the Drake Passage bound for Ushuaia. During the return crossing enjoy more lectures and recap your experiences of Antarctica.

Day 15
Buenos Aires

Disembark the MS Fram in Ushuaia and fly to Buenos Aires.

The cruise price includes
  • Voyage in cabin grade of your choice including full board, domestic charter flights between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, transfers as applicable
  • Suites also include a selection of drinks with meals on board

  • Your flight package includes: Return economy class (usually overnight) flights from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires (via Madrid or similar), including applicable taxes and current fuel surcharges (except departure tax from South America which has to be paid locally), 1 night in Buenos Aires before and 1 night after the voyage including breakfast, transfers to/from Buenos Aires airport.
