The itinerary over the next few days depends on local weather and ice conditions and we hope to visit Kangerlussuaq Fjord, home to impressive glaciers and remains of the Thule culture; Mikis Fjord surrounded by steep cliffs and Nansen Fjord with its abundance of beautifully sculpted icebergs. Scoresby Sund is the largest fjord in the world. Huge icebergs are set to a backdrop of spectacular mountains and tundra. The only permanent settlement in this area is Ittoqqortoormiit, in this isolated community people still depend on hunting for their livelihood. Continue further north towards North East Greenland National Park, a very rarely visited area of magnificent beauty. Scientific expeditions, hunters and whalers have left their mark here.
