This eleven day expedition cruise allows you to explore the stunning Arctic landscape and culture of the rarely visited Eastern coast of Greenland and Iceland. We embark from Iceland's capital, Reykjavik with the first leg of our journey being across the Denmark strait to Ammassalik, the first trading post in East Greenland. From here we sail north up the East Greenland coast.

Iceberg

Depending on weather and ice conditions, we hope to visit Kangerlussuaq Fjord with its spectacular glaciers, Mikis Fjord surrounded by steep cliffs, Nansen Fjord with beautiful scuplted icebergs and Scoresby Sund the world's largest fjord.

Greenland Fjord

Sailing further north towards East Greenland National Park, we experience a rarely visited area of outstanding landscapes, magnificent ice formations, mountains and tundra. Crossing back across the Denmark Strait, we sail to Iceland's western Fjords with majestic volcanic landscape filled with tumbling waterfalls, seabirds and colourful fishing villages. We visit charming Isafjordur before sailing south and completing our arctic expedition cruise in Reykjavik.

Greenland's remote & wild coast Itinerary
Day 1
Reykjavik (Iceland)

Embark the MS Fram in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

Day 2
Denmark Strait

Sail the Denmark Strait bound for Greenland, watch out for humpback and minke whales.

Day 3
Ammassalik

Call at Ammassalik, a remote community and the firsttrading post in East Greenland.

Day 4-8
Kangerkussuaq Fjord - Mikis Fjord - Nansen Fjord - Scoresby Sund

The itinerary over the next few days depends on local weather and ice conditions and we hope to visit Kangerlussuaq Fjord, home to impressive glaciers and remains of the Thule culture; Mikis Fjord surrounded by steep cliffs and Nansen Fjord with its abundance of beautifully sculpted icebergs. Scoresby Sund is the largest fjord in the world. Huge icebergs are set to a backdrop of spectacular mountains and tundra. The only permanent settlement in this area is Ittoqqortoormiit, in this isolated community people still depend on hunting for their livelihood. Continue further north towards North East Greenland National Park, a very rarely visited area of magnificent beauty. Scientific expeditions, hunters and whalers have left their mark here.

Day 9-10
Denmark Strait- Isafjordur

Cross the Denmark Strait and continue to Iceland’s western fjords, an area of cascading waterfalls and a vast amount of nesting birds where you stop at charming Isafjördur.

Day 11
Reykjavik

Back in Reykjavik is where your exciting voyage ends.

Day 3: Visit the Blue Lagoon mineral baths in the morning and learn about Iceland's capital in the afternoon during the Reykjavik Grand Excursion. Embark on MS Fram.
