Exploring one of the least visited regions in Antarctica, this unforgettable journey sails deep into the rich waters of the Weddell Sea, where sculpted pillars of towering ice share the seas with a myriad of seabirds, penguins, whales and seals

Setting sail from Ushuaia on MS Fram, we cross the scenic Beagle Channel to Antarctica. Whilst crossing the Drake Passage we learn more about the wonders of Antarctica with onboard lecturers. We aim to sail deep into the Weddell Sea, an area of Antarctica which is rarely visited.

Highlights of our expedition cruise include the South Shetland Islands, ice formations and the Antarctic wildlife including penguins, whales, dolphins, seals and numerous sea birds.

Depending on weather and ice conditions, we may land on Deception Island, Half Moon Island, Yankee Harbour on Greenwich Island, Antarctic Sound, Brown Bluff, Snow Hill Island, James Ross Island, Vega Island, Trinity Peninsula, Prince Gustav Channel, Cuverville Island, Neko Harbour, Paradise Harbour, Petermann Island, Port Lockroy, Wilhelmina Bay and the narrow iceberg lined Lemaire Channel.

2010 Itinerary
Day 1
Ushuaia

Fly to Ushuaia and embark MS Fram, set sail through the scenic Beagle Channel for Antarctica.

Days 2-3
At sea

Whilst crossing the Drake Passage enjoy on board lectures to learn more about the wonders of Antarctica.

Days 3-10
In Antarctica

On this voyage the aim is to sail deep into the Weddell Sea, a remote and rarely visited area of the Antarctic Peninsula. Highlights will include the South Shetland Islands and isles along the Antarctic Peninsula. Visit penguin colonies, explore spectacular ice formations and look out for whales, dolphins, seals and the dazzling variety of sea birds that call these waters home.

Weather, wind, and ice conditions will determine our programme, amongst the landing sites you may visit are Deception Island, Half Moon Island, Yankee Harbour on Greenwich Island, Antarctic Sound, Brown Bluff, Snow Hill Island, James Ross Island, Vega Island, Trinity Peninsula, Prince Gustav Channel, Cuverville Island,Neko Harbour, Paradise Harbour, Petermann Island, Port Lockroy, Wilhelmina Bay and the narrow iceberg lined Lemaire Channel.

Days 11-12
Drake Passage

Cross the Drake Passage bound for Ushuaia. During the voyage north enjoy more lectures and recap our experiences of Antarctica.

Day 13
Voyage Ends

Disembark the MS Fram in Ushuaia and fly to Buenos Aires.
