Stunning Greenland scenery

The journey begins in Reykjavic onboard the MS Fram and cross the Denmark strait to Greenland. Visit Køge Bugt, where the Greenland Ice Cap reaches the sea as well as Skjoldungen Island. Our final port of call in Greenland is Qassiarsuq, the Viking settlement of the exiled Icelander Eric the Red, and the departure point for Leiv Eriksson’s epic voyage to America. We follow his intrepid voyage, crossing the Davis Strait and landing in St. Antony, Newfoundland.

Greenland Fjord

Visit an UNESCO World Heritage Site in Newfoundland and stunning beauty of the region and the visit Red Bay before sailing to Bonne Bay. The final stop on this stunning voyage is Halifax. The first Canadian town to be settled by the British, Halifax is a delightful fusion of scenic grandeur and colonial charm.

Itinerary
Day 1

Embark the MS Fram in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland

Day 2

Cross the Denmark Strait, following in the wake of the great Norse settlers who left the shores of Iceland and Norway more than 900 years ago.

Day 3-4

The final itinerary will depend on ice and weather conditions, but we hope to visit Køge Bugt, where the Greenland Ice Cap reaches the sea and large tabular icebergs calve into the ocean, as well as Umivik, the place where Nansen went ashore and started his epic traverse of the Greenland Ice Cap. Skjoldungen Island will provide you with views of some of the most spectacular landscapes of Greenland.

Day 5-6

Southern Greenland offers majestic scenery and is rich in Viking history. We hope to visit the small community of Qassiarsuk, it is here that the Viking Erik the Red settled in 982 when he was exiled from Iceland. Explore the settlement with its reconstructed longhouse and farm and the church that Erik’s wife made him build.

Day 7-8

Continue in the footsteps of the Vikings to Labrador and Newfoundland. Whilst at sea lectures will introduce you to the sights ahead.

Day 9

Sail to St. Anthony, Newfoundland, site of the Grenfell Museum and just a short distance from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of L’Anse aux Meadows, the place Leiv Eriksson first landed in America.

Day 10

Red Bay is a charming community on the southern coast of Labrador, once considered to be the capital of the whaling industry.

Day 11

Bonne Bay is located on the western side of Newfoundland and separates the Great Northern Peninsula from the rest of the island. It is a part of Gros Morne National Park.

Day 12-13

Call at the picturesque little village of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, which is situated on the shores of the beautiful Bras d’Or Lake in the heart of Cape Breton lsland.

Day 14

Rich in history and natural beauty, Halifax, Nova Scotia is where your voyage ends.
