The itinerary over the next few days is dependent on local weather and ice conditions, but we plan to visit Skjoldungen Island, offering some of the most spectacular landscapes in Greenland and the remains of an ancient site of the Thule culture; Køge Bugt, where the Ice Cap reaches the sea and large tabular icebergs are calving, and Umivik, where you can follow in the the footsteps of Nansen as he went ashore and started his epic traverse of the Greenland Ice Cap. Ammassalik was the first trading post in East Greenland and until today relies on hunting and fishing to survive.
