Winter Theme Voyages
Following the popularity of our summer theme voyages we are
delighted to introduce a range of interesting winter trips
that afford you the opportunity to relax, enjoy your favourite
pastime, discover new interests and perhaps develop new skills
on a cruise through the magnificent fjords of the beautiful
Norwegian coast.

Travelling
on the Hurtigruten ships, along with on board experts, this is the perfect chance to enjoy the leisure pursuit
of your choice, whilst experiencing the unique comforts of life aboard the ‘world’s most beautiful voyage’.

The reduced daylight hours of the winter months create a magical twilight that perfectly sets the scene for a
relaxing and memorable journey, ensuring your time, both off and on the ship, is as full and rewarding as you
would like it to be. No previous experience is necessary to get the most from these wonderful voyages.

Harmony At Sea |
Sing your way along the dramatic shoreline of
the Norwegian coast, or enjoy being witness
to a group of people coming together with
a shared love for song, forming a choral
group, singing light-hearted favourites
and culminating in a concert for all the
guests on the final day of our journey.
A unique opportunity to join an experienced
choir-master who will mould music
enthusiasts into a choir. While enjoying
the dramatic scenery along the way we
spend some time each day in choral groups
and at the end of the voyage perform for
our fellow passengers. If you prefer not
to sing you may enjoy encouraging our
singers as they prepare for their big day
- a perfect way to make new friends.
Joining the Voyage North, we set sail from
Bergen. Daily practice sessions will still
leave plenty of time to take part in the
Hurtigruten shore excursions, sit back and
enjoy the scenery passing us by and watch
out for the magical Northern Lights.
No previous experience necessary. |

Water Colours and Art |
The winter polar light creates an inspiring
setting for a trip which combines practical
guidance for water colour painting with more
general talks on artists and their influences.
This stimulating voyage will appeal to
those who wish to learn to paint, people
with a general interest in art and also to
accomplished water colour artists. Beginning
in Bergen on the Voyage North we gently sail
through the wonders of winter Norway. An
experienced art teacher will give guidance
as we try to recreate the winter landscapes
or still-life scenes, and a second lecturer will
give informal talks on art and painting.
The ever-changing scenery and the changes
of light during the day will provide ample
material to try to capture on paper. Our
journey will be enhanced by regular lessons
on painting techniques and lectures on art. If
you have an interest in art or wish to discover
or develop your skills, make the most of this
wonderful opportunity. In addition to many
happy memories you will be taking home a
truly individual memento of your voyage.
No previous experience is necessary, basic
painting equipment will be provided. |

Bridge |
Practise and perfect your Bridge playing
skills whilst the ship glides along the coast
towards Kirkenes. Beginning in Bergen on
the Voyage North we gently sail through the
wonders of winter Norway. Our experienced
Bridge director will run duplicate Bridge
sessions for players of all standards and
while the rules of the game will be followed
the emphasis is on the enjoyment of the
play rather than a highly competitive event.
The programme will be adapted to allow
time for excursions when we call at Ålesund,
Trondheim, Tromsø and Honningsvåg.
We plan to play supervised Bridge every
evening with sessions lasting between two
and three hours depending on the numbers
taking part and the general speed of play.
A number of seminars will also be held on a
range of related subjects in the mornings.
By the time we arrive in Kirkenes you will
have honed your skills and made new
friends amongst your fellow players.
The voyage is suitable for players of all
standards, equipment will be provided. |

Winter Digital Photography |
The opportunity to capture the Northern
Lights is a photographer’s dream but even if
this celestial display should not appear, winter
in Norway has much to offer the amateur
photographer. With a specific focus on
digital photography, we learn how to realise
the full potential of our digital cameras.
Our experienced lecturer in photography
joins us as we travel on the Voyage North.
Sailing among the islands and fjords, we
discover how to get the best results from
digital cameras and maximise the potential
of related photographic software. The
changing Arctic light will challenge our skills
whether we zoom in on aspects of life on
board, or try to reproduce the silent beauty
of snow-draped settlements fringing the
shore. Additionally each excursion offers a
diverse range of subject matter – cathedral
grandeur, Art Nouveau Ålesund, wheeling sea
eagles, rugged North Cape, brightly painted
fishermens’ cabins reflected in the deep
waters, soaring bridges and breathtaking views
– will all put us in the right frame of mind.
