Make it more than a merry Christmas on this unique festive
voyage, which combines a stay in the beautiful city of Copenhagen,
a voyage north along the spectacular Nowegian coastline, with
the possibility of seeing the mysterious Northern Lights,
and a stay in the lively town of Tromsø!
Scandinavia is renowned for its Christmas markets and festive
atmosphere, and there is no better way to experience this
than by visiting Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen before joining
our northbound voyage along the Norwegian coastline, searching
the skies for the mysterious Northern Lights.
Spending two nights in Copenhagen, our hotel overlooks the
magnificent Tivoli Gardens, famous for its magical Christmas
Market. Strolling through the cobbled streets of this vibrant
city, and along the winding paths of these enchanting gardens,
we will find stalls laden with tempting Christmas treats and
local specialities. In the crisp winter air, sit back and
watch the world go by, whilst supping from steaming mugs of
hot mulled wine and munching on traditional spiced biscuits.
We take a short flight to the culturally rich city of Bergen
and have time to explore the cobbled streets and lively harbour-side
fish market before departing on MS Finnmarken for our voyage
to Tromsø.
In accordance with Norwegian tradition, Christmas will be
celebrated on 24 December and you will be invited to sample
traditional festive delicacies whilst carols are sung around
the Christmas tree.
Arriving in Tromsø, we disembark and have a free day
to explore this lively Arctic city. The Polaria Visitor Centre
looks at life in the Arctic, and is home to the world’s
only bearded seals in captivity. A visit to the impressive
Arctic Cathedral is recommended, as is the opportunity to
go dog-sledging.

Ålesund Walking Tour
This lovely town stands at the entrance to four
fjords, including the famous Geirangerfjord. A gentle
walk with a local guide will bring to life the surprising
history of this seemingly quiet region. Today, access
to the shops is guaranteed by under pavement heating
in the main street. Alternatively, we may decide
to offset the effects of the superb cuisine on board
by braving the 400 steps of Aksla to be rewarded
with breathtaking views of the town.

Trondheim Sightseeing
Tour the attractive town of Trondheim and its outskirts
- visiting the awe-inspiring medieval Nidaros Cathedral
where the often tragic story of this national shrine
is retold. The brightly painted wooden warehouses
reflected in the river and the old dwellings of
the old town contrast with the modern shops and
cafés, under the watchful gaze of Kristiansten
fortress on the hill high above.

Dog Sledging – Tromsø
An opportunity to experience the exhilaration felt
by the Arctic explorers of old on this dramatic
ride by dog sledge across the open plains of Tromsø.
On our approach the waiting dogs bark a welcome
before it is their turn to speed us across the snow.
Return to the welcome warmth of a Sami Lavvo for
steaming coffee brewed on an open fire.
