The entire duration of this fascinating voyage is spent above the Arctic Circle, increasing your chances of seeing the magical Aurora Borealis.
Our journey begins in the Arctic Capital of Tromsø, with a leisurely voyage north. Observe the sky looking for the Northern Lights as we sail towards Honningsvåg, the portal to Europe's most northerly point, the North Cape. Heading towards Kirkenes we visit Krøllefojord and Menhamn, where you can try your hand at Snowmobiling through the Arctic landscape.
Our arrival into the sheltered harbour of Kirkenes, a mere 10km from the Russian border, allows us to experience a real taste of Sami life and perhaps take a Husky sledge ride or visit the stylish Snow Hotel.
As you begin your journey south the northbound ports visited by night are now seen by day. We stay overnight in Tromsø after leaving the ship.

Fly direct to Tromsø, Norway's Arctic capital, on a special direct charter flight. Board your ship and begin your voyage north. (D)
After an early call in Hammerfest you arrive in Honningsvåg, the portal to the wonders of the spectacular North Cape, mainland Europe's most northerly point. This is a wild and windswept headland where cliffs rise dramatically 300 metres from the sea, and you gaze out with nothing but water between you and the frozen waters surrounding the North Pole. Sailing on, we reach the sheltered harbour of Kirkenes, only 10km from the Russian border and the Sami communities of Northern Finland. Optional excursions here include dog sledging or a visit to the Snow Hotel. Later in the day we depart Kirkenes heading south towards Tromsø.(B, D)
Hugging the coastline we revisit remote settlements which rely on the Hurtigruten ships to maintain contact with the rest of Norway, particularly in the winter. Hammerfest, the world's most northerly town is your first major port of call before reaching Tromsø late in the evening. Transfer to your centrally located hotel for an overnight stay. (B, D)
