Land of Fire and Ice Itinerary
Day 1 - Akureyri (Iceland)
Embark Callisto in Akureyri. Perhaps enjoy the optional afternoon walking excursion around the town.
Day 2 - Akureyri - Husavik
Husavik on Iceland's north coast has a magnificent wooden church, known as Husavikurkirkja and is a great place for whale watching. The optional full day excursion to Husavik travels along the Ring Road to the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall, whilst hearing tales from the fascinating Kristni Saga.
Day 3 - Siglufjordur
Siglufjordur is a picturesque fishing port, very close to the Arctic Circle, and Iceland's most northern town. It is home to several museums including the Herring Era Museum where you can learn about the fishing industry. In addition, the town hosts a Folk Music Festival every year.
Day 4 - Isafjordur
Isafjordur is the largest town in the Westfjords region and situated just below the Arctic Circle. The three roads leading out of the town are all through tunnels. From this large fishing port, perhaps take a trip to Bolungravik with its fascinating replica of an old fishing outpost and the extensive natural history museum, before continuing to Osvor town.
Day 5 - Bildudadur
On the way to Bildudadur in the Westfjords region, stop by the breathtaking Dynjandi Waterfalls, then explore this village and its Icelandic Sea Monster Museum, where you can hear tales of the sea monsters of Arnarfjordur.
Day 6 - Bogarnes
Join the optional full day excursion to the truly impressive Deildartunguhver, Europe’s biggest hot spring, and the beautiful Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls.
Day 7 - Heimaey Island
Heimaey is also known as the Pompeii of the North and is buzzing with wildlife including puffins, fulmars and guillemots. Optional half day excursions explore two volcanoes and the Eldheimar Geological Museum which explores the landscape of the island before, during and after the famous volcanic eruption.
Day 8 - Reykjavik
Disembark Callisto in Reykjavik.
