Pearls of the Adriatic - a 10-night cruise to Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece

This delightful cruise visits the Mediterranean, sailing along the Croatian coast to romantic Venice and returning via Rome.

From Marseilles cruise to Messina in Sicily, close to the volcano of Mount Etna. At the head of the scenic Bay of Kotor in mountainous Montenegro, where the attractive town of Kotor has many ancient sites.

Continue up the Croatian coast to historic Split, with the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian built into the city walls. At the head of the Adriatic is unique Venice, with its busy canals and ancient passageways. See St Mark's Square and perhaps take a gondola on the Grand Canal.

Walk around the city walls of Dubrovnik in Croatia and explore the sights of this historic town. Along the coast call at the Greek island of Corfu before visiting Lipari in the Aeolian Islands.

Venice

The final port on the cruise is Civitavecchia, the port of Rome. From there visit St Peter's, the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. The cruise then returns to Marseilles.

This superb cruise is offered as 'cruise-only' for maximum flexibility, or with flights from various UK airports, or alternatively by Eurostar and TGV rail.

Messina (Sicily), Italy

This small town has become one of the most popular Mediterranean sunspots. It is perched on a terrace overlooking the sea and has a delightful medieval character. From Messina you can take a tour to Taormina, a beautiful city with views to Mount Etna.

Day 4
Kotor, Montenegro

Situated just 34 miles south of Dubrovnik, Kotor is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Mediterranean. Kotor, known as the Bride of Adriatic, is the most famous Montenegrin town in terms of culture and cultural landmarks.

Day 5
Split, Croatia

Split, situated between Venice and the Ionian Islands, is one of the most fascinating cities in the Adriatic. Its numerous museums, the National Theatre, and old churches in the Split region make it an important cultural attraction.

Day 6
Venice, Italy

Venice is certainly the most famous city in Italy, known worldwide for its ancient history, its art, architecture and cultural events. The city is built across myriad islands connected together by bridges and it’s easy to explore on foot or by catching a waterbus, the vaporetto.

Day 7
Dubronvnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is 'the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'. Enter the Pile Gate and walk the intricate web of streets and squares, down the Stradon and around the medieval city walls.

Day 8
Corfu, Greece

Corfu is the second largest of the Ionian Islands. It’s a beautiful island with superb Venetian architecture, picturesque villages, a lively nightlife and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The kumquat, the very small orange of Chinese derivation, is made into a sweet or a liquer produced only in Corfu.

Day 9
Lipari, Italy

Lipari is the biggest of the Aeolian Islands, near Sicily. The island was created by a succession of four volcanic eruptions.

Day 10
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Civitavecchia is the port of the Eternal City of Rome. Take a tour and see the Colosseum and Forum, visit the Vatican or shop for Italian leather goods. Be sure to toss a coin into Trevi Fountain which, according to legend, will guarantee you will return to Rome one day. On May 17, July 26 and October 4 departures, the ship calls at Livorno (for Florence and Pisa) instead of Civitavecchia.

Day 11
Marseilles, France

Disembark MS Orient Queen.
